Big Ten Build Fund Progress

I believe towers was already in but took a while to decide where to allocate money

I know there was another thread that had this update, but I'd like to keep a record of how much we've progressed by month here.

$70,401,606 on 2056 donors. An increase of $1.2 million on almost 100 donors.

Gotta imagine the donations they have would makes some kind of interest
A lot of the money are commitments. You don't want to know actual cash on hand. This last 29mm will be a slow grind unless someone hits the lotto.

The Big10 build honor roll came out recently and I was frankly surprised that many diehard RU fans I know have yet to contribute. I know giving is not easy, but a pledge of $500 over 5 years is probably manageable for many of them and would really help the cause. I hope a lot more people will join in at whatever level they can.

I didn't know such a thing existed but here it is.

Wtf Sanu, McCourteys, Ryan, Harmon, etc.
Wasn't this what Julie complained about and got heat for it?

To be fair though, isn't this a B1G Build Fund list? If the NFL guys contribute, I wouldn't be surprised they contribute directly to FB. I certainly would if I were them.

Indeed. Could not find any of the big NFL stars.
Unfortunately that is not uncommon at most schools with this generation of NFL players. . The former players who donate the most tend to be those who found success outside of sports. They carry the "they made millions off of me" chip on their shoulder into the NFL. They feel that the schools owe them and not the other way around. In addition many NFL players are not in a position to give big donations. First many squander the money and end up broke. Secondly those who are wise with their money realize they have a very small window to make millions that they have to invest it to make it last a lifetime. So an athlete making $1 million a year can't spend like an business executive making $1 million a year.

Those guys put in sweat equity. I have no problems with them not donating. They gave 4 or 5 years of their lives to RU.

This has to be a joke right?

It's their choice whether they want to donate but if they don't they shouldn't expect others from RU to give to their charities or ever use the RU facilities for personal reasons.

So did many of us, and we paid for it. I put in sweat equity working 30-35 hours per week to pay tuition and living expenses. They went for free and make multiples of $$ more than most people. But I see PSUNUT's point. They have a short duration to make a lot of $$ early in their career, many times a career that get cut short. But giving NOTHING?

I wish there was a way that everyone on the the pay board and free board can be put on a list of who donated And not donated to this fund. I think if there was a way to do that it would force most to donate out of embarrassment of not donating to this pivotal fund.

This is correct. I also don't see why a former FB player would contribute to the basketball and Olympic sports facilities funded by the Big10 Build.

Because RU short-funded the basketball and other sports facilities and programs to pay for the stadium expansion and other costs to get the football program recognized and ultimately picked up by the B1G?

That doesn't make much sense. They are alums and don't get a free hall pass because they sweated on a football field.

I understand what you're saying, but could you really fault a FB alum for (theoretically) donating to FB instead of the Build Fund? Heck, even I'm considering diverting my 2017 donation back to FB.

Let's stop this crazy banter. The bottom line is all athletes don't get together and decide how to donate. They just don't. What is sad is that none has donated to this fund which is probably a strong indication as to how they donate overall.

They need to hit twitter and FB with this...#RUBUILDin ? or something like that

One more thing... I'm either blind or our website for the Big Build is terribly designed. There should be a large easy to see banner that say DONATE NOW somewhere. I will make the effort to find the link to donate, but others out there might not. We really need to think these details through as an organization.

As far as athlete not donating, i'm not surprised. These guys end up broke, so many of them won't donate early. Its the guys that find sustained success, get paid big, and retire in good financial standing that will donate.

You are kidding right. The website is the reason people are not donating. I think its because they are cheap bastards that have no pride in their University.

Winner winner chicken dinner be careful now a hoard of posters will find your post offensive and thru back channels complain about you and try to get you banned. That's how it is done here. 99% of the posters have not donated but will call you a whiner for calling them out.

Separate issues. While I agree overall that there are larger problems, the point of any Organization (whether it be a company or a charity) is to make things easy on the consumer or donor to take their money. Not sure how much traffic the website gets, but its terrible design to have to click in the upper right hand corner to get to the "donate now" link. That should be front and center, not 2 clicks away. This shouldn't even be debatable.

Why don't you start a new thread? Tell us your name and how much you donated and see where it goes from there.
