A one time RU commit. Any scenario we have enough scholarships to be in play for his services? Apparently seeking a hardship waiver which would lead us to believe he is looking to get closer to home.

Where did he go to school? How successful was he on the field?

Don't think RU has any room at the scholarship inn.

Maybe he should have stayed at home if he was planning on starting a family with his girlfriend in New Jersey.

Watts started 12 games as a sophomore for the Hokies. He had 29 tackles (24 solo) with a team-leading seven pass break-ups.
While a number of student-athletes have departed the program in recent months — including quarterback Josh Jackson, wide receiver Eric Kumah and tight end Chris Cunningham — a source familiar with situation said Watts wasn't upset with his place on the depth chart or the coaching staff.
The New Jersey native is expecting his first child with his girlfriend, who is also from the New Jersey area. The couple posted a gender reveal video on social media earlier this year (it was a boy).
Watts was expected to start again at defensive back alongside Caleb Farley in the fall. He repped with the first-team defense throughout spring camp and was with the unit during the team's spring exhibition game.

Sure sounds like he wants to be in N.J. for his soon to be family. Somebody better be working hard to make the scholly numbers work for this. Legit chance to land a starter at VT.

Virginia Tech players are dropping like flies from that program. Fuente did well his first 2 years, but now that Beamer's recruits are nearly all gone, he cratered them to 6-7 last year. $4 million/year. His buyout is $15 million and he is under contract until 2024.

All signs point to him coming to RU to be closer to his gf and future child... we can use him immediately, so process a lower ranked kid out if need be to get him a scholarship

How does that work?

Temple is just as close to Toms River as Rutgers. Temple has been putting a good number of players in the NFL recently

Usually agree with these statements but kid would be a day 1 started at DB. Always seemed like he wanted to be at RU but wasn’t happy when his primary recruiter left very close to signing day. No way we can say don’t need him.
We don't need him. We are fine at CB, what we need are DT's.

Besides, as has been stated numerous times, we do not have any scholarships available. None. Zilch. Nada. No way Jose.

True. Understand RU may be out of scholies right now, but are we sure all the transfers are done? I am expecting 1 or 2 of the WRs to announce they are leaving. No inside info, but rather some getting real and recognizing they will never see the field at Rutgers or Power 5 program, but very well could at a non-Power 5 or FCS school.

I don't think it does work. We're up against the 25 annual limit. Can't "process" ( a euphemism I hate) your way out of that. But what do I know.

Any chance we get Mitchell’s scholly back now that he has again reclassified and signed with Texas for the 2019 class? How can 1 kid count twice against the scholly limit in the same year? That would put us at 24 for 2019 including transfers and excluding Wise and Ugwu I think.

HAVE NO CLUE. BUT He'll probably wind up at State Penn or Temple.

Lol x 100.

We were on him before anyone. People down here couldn’t believe we offered/accepted his commit over some of his more heralded teammates. Then he dropped us flat when a “better” offer finally came. No thanks ! Enjoy Temple

Don’t think he was planning on this at 17. But if your point is just stay home I love it!

You are crazy if you believe what you said. A kid who is good enough to start at VT definitely has enough talent to contribute at Rutgers. He may not start but definitely depth and special teams. Secondly I can guarantee by the start of classes this fall at least one scholarship will open.

They should have listened to Paradise by the Dashboard Light.
Yes, the point was stay close to home if you have a girlfriend at home. That's what we saw with Vokolek (minus the baby). But some of our folks here want to pile on Ash for that, yet we would welcome Watts with open arms. That said, while Watts' has indicated there is nothing about the team/coaches driving his decision, there was certainly a mass defection from VT this spring and summer.
