Coaching Carousel 2021

Don’t really pay attention to the NFL but impressive by KK. He’s one I had mentioned I wanted if we had fired Ash a year sooner. Still liked him after his failure and firing at TT. The man knows offense and qbs….just get him a top level DC. If he ever got fired from the NFL and came back to college still think the same.

Kind of odd how that works. Maybe Urban Meyer needs 2 more years (if he makes it)????

Never know how it will work out for UM. Anything is possible.

Side note: another name I've seen with regards to UF is Mark Stoops. He's a logical choice. Already in the SEC east and done a solid job at a lower tier program in the SEC east. His brother Bob was DC there for Spurrier and he's been a DC at FSU too so should have some familiarity with Florida recruiting.

Dan Quinn I've also seen mentioned. Former UF DC, currently DC for the Cowboys and former NFL HC. I believe the Cowboys are poised for a good run this year and he might be in line for another HC spot too so those things could get in the way of a potential hire.

where's my co-AD today when big things are happening with his favorite coach? Turkey coma?

😂…yea something like that.

I could see him staying at Baylor. It took him a bit to become a HC even though his name had been out there for a bit and I don’t see him as an ambitious job hopper or looking for the next big thing. I think he’s self aware and will have a keen sense of which jobs fit or don’t fit him regardless of how high status they are. The grass isn’t always greener and some guys know that.

I would have thought Mark Stoops more for UF but if LSU isn’t getting other names on their list then Stoops is still a good one with potential.

We'll be seeing more and more schools like PSU, MSU and Baylor making sure their HC doesn't jump ship.
Billy Napier is about to get his pick of the litter, the way schools are doing everything they can to keep their HC happy.

Napier tO the Gators would be a good move by both.
I was hoping he'd be sought by LSU, bit it seems, from everything I read,
the LSU AD only wants a HC from a P-5 school and if so Mississippi might just be needing a new HC.

Yea I’ve said he likes big names and to make news so Kiffin is possible. If I’m Ole Miss and Kiffin leaves I’d just promote Jeff Lebby. Think he’s a good up and coming coach and play caller of that offense.

Kiffin has leaned on Briles tree OCs both at FAU and Ole Miss.

Agree with him and with the season ending with a bunch of coaches today and tomorrow I’d expect the carousel to heat up Sunday to Tuesday.

I think DeBoer would be a good choice for UW. I think Grimes would be a good option too.

Also think Elko would be a nice choice for VT. Since they missed out on Clawson, a one time former assistant to Clawson and coach in the ACC who has been able to do more with less in his career seems like a solid option.

Also as expected a little Texas two step with Dykes moving quickly to TCU and Lashlee moving quickly into SMU.

Riley has already shot down LSU talk after yesterday‘s game but haven’t heard of USC with regards to him. That would be a home run if they could pull it off.

Another example of when I say things like it's in their blood and that there are only 65 P5 jobs around and yes you can find coaches with potential for these jobs. It doesn't mean Moorhead will be successful but his background is one that has potential to maybe do some things. Basically, response to well who the the heck would want to go to so and so school, including RU, which some of our own fans think as well. Never a guarantee but always can get guys with some potential to be good.

I've mentioned Elko as a good candidate for the VT job but thinking about it if he's not able to snag a HC job he wants I think Ryan Day should see if he can snag him from A&M. Moneywise A&M can match and pay him anything. But profile wise, don't think he can beat OSU for getting his name even more recognition that he has now. Turn OSU's defense around and I think he'll be a wanted commodity.
