Coaching Carousel 2025

At Rutgers patience is a virtue which results in better hiring decisions and more talented recruits.

Coaching changes occurring to high profile teams and yet Rutgers won't even replace an assistant coach on a team with two straight losing seasons.
Those changes are small potatoes compared to school president and AD. Interim ADs don’t force those kind of actions, let alone make things right with regards to the GREEN lot at the RAC.

You also are seeing a lot of programs that are much smaller and in lesser conferences announcing they are on board with big pushes to the program monetarily and radio silence from Rutgers

We’re stuck in the mud herd

Willard left because he didn't feel Maryland was committed enough to their basketball program despite Maryland offering him top pay and now Greenblatt is claiming Oats might take the job because he feels Alabama isn't treating it's basketball program right..
Sounds far fetched to me and just wild speculation.
Now if it was Oats to Nova speculation before the rat😉 Willard went there leaving Maryland for that same reason ,that would be a horse of a different color.

Oats has Midwest ties. Would be a great hire for Minnesota, and especially for Wisconsin if they were hiring. Though the bucks at Alabama are greater than any compensation the Big Ten teams could throw at him.

He’s made Alabama a high profile job there’s no reason for him to leave

so Buzz to Maryland and now who goes to A&M...will it be Jans from Mississippi State?
another long shot worth a look is Scott Cross of Troy or Steve Lutz of Oklahoma Stare
But if the money is right (Buzz was making $4.6 mil)
Chris Beard might be willing to leave Mississippi for College Station and help make A&Ms rivalry with Texas as hot in basketball as it is in football.
My bet is Chris going back to Texas, but with Aggies

Out of nowhere or someone that was always there but not considered one of the top candidates?
Wasn't among my long shot candidates, but Bucky might be a better choice than the ones I felt might be chosen

>Three-time Southern Conference Coach of the Year Bucky McMillan has been tabbed as Texas A&M's 23rd men's basketball head coach in school history, Director of Athletics Trev Alberts announced on Saturday.<

My longshot candidate for a couple of open positions didn't get them but now he's a coach in waiting ( the current HC is only 60) instead of running a program
>Huss compiled an outstanding head coaching record of 56-15 during his two years at High Point University, highlighting his ability to build and lead teams to success. High Point achieved historic milestones, including the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance in Division I history and a program-record 29 Division I wins during the 2024-2025 season, showcasing his capacity to elevate a program to new heights. Huss was named the Big South Conference Coach of the Year in 2024-2025 and 2023-2024. <

>Huss, 46, previously spent six seasons on the Bluejays' staff under McDermott, 60, and was a vital figure in the program's rise. He departed after an Elite Eight appearance in 2023 and quickly built High Point into the Big South's top program.<

I was wondering why and didn't think of that > I'd bet you're right.
Huss was going to get a major program spot , real soon, in my opinion and now he's going home to where he played college ball and was an assistant under the man he's being groomed to replace

For Huss's sake, I hope McDermott retires within a couple years. I remember Mike Hopkins was coach-in-waiting at Syracuse for about 10 years. He got tired of waiting for Boeheim to hang 'em up, so he left to take the Washington job.
