5 straight trips to NCAA with North Carolina State. Will take him.
Sendek=Greenberg but what Sendek has over Mike Greenberg is the recruiting calling card will be going forward is JAMES HARDEN. Saying he coached a top 3 player in the NBA should really help on the recruiting trail. Look no coach is going to get RU into the upper echelon of the B1G but Sendek will get this team playing well and springing upsets and if he does that RU will be very patient with Herb as NCST and ASU cut him off perhaps prematurely. Rutgers will not do that if Sendek gets Rutgers decent in the first couple years so I am confident he would be on the banks long term if he did and that stability also helps with recruiting.
Don't want Mike Greenberg, or Mike Golic.
Why doesn't Tim Cluess get as much love as Steve Masiello, or King Rice? Cluess is 86-25 (.755) in conference at Iona, Masiello 58-35 (.624) in conference at Manhattan and King Rice 50-46 (.521) in conference at Monmouth.
I'm sure you and others feel that way now, but also think as RU MBB starts getting better, the thought of just staying close to the top will not be part of your thinking.
You ( and other RU fans) will find reasons RU MBB should be one of the elite programs and won't settle for less. That will also be the way I will feel.
Being like that is hard to fathom now the shape RU MBB is in, but once success starts to come occasionally it will be expected to appear more often.
Think about this: once RU starts going to the NCAA Tourney occasionally, won't you expect that to happen on a regular bases, especially with a full share of the B1G revenue coming in.
No RU MBB fan will settle for pretty good, they will want to want RU to do even better.
Fanhood is wanting better than it is now and won't stop until the best is expected and anything less will be a disappointment.
Look at the football program before Schiano and what was expected of him before he left.
He made RU FB a good program from one of the worst, but by the time he left good wasn't good enough and greatness was expected.
I feel that will happen to the RU MBB program once it starts improving and reaches the middle of B1G pack status.
There will be reasons found why RU should be better than a middle of pack program and should be one of the best.
That's the way I look at it, but also know that will be a long time down the road, but hope it's a ;lot faster.
I hope what Hawk brought up here is what Hobbs is following up on. Really, Pat can't wait long on this. Gotta get moving fast.

He's a perfect fit at GW. He could wait for the Georgetown job to open (me speculating). I'd love that hire.
Rac that is real defeatist attitude. Do you expect football to compete down the road? I do and I expect sometime down the road we will be there in BB as well. 40 years ago we had a shot a national title and fell a little short. Im my opinion we never capitalized on that years accomplishments with regards to recriting. Our downfall started then. Tom Young was not a strong recruiter. Real good coach though.

I believe Sendek would jump at this job because he's out of coaching and this job is still in a P5 conference. I agree, Lonergan would be a long shot in my view, but you never know what someone may do if enough money and autonomy is thrown their way.
If I change is made, this guy is my choice. He was My choice after Rice was fired. I went as far as sending him an email to his manhattan.edu email address....lol
Choices are fine,but they cannot be constrained by a lack of willingness to significantly enlarge the budget for bb.

I think Massiello could be great but unfortunately not in a position to take a chance here and CollegeAv is spot on. he's not the sexiest choice but makes the most sense. coming from school with similiar lack of bball support, facilities, and recruiting obstacles.
Should we be worried that Illinois may make a coaching change and target Sendek. What if Little Ricky gets canned at Minnesota? They too could make a run for Herb

I was thinking about that. We dragged our feet years ago and it cost us Jay Wright. If he's Hobbs's number one choice, there's no reason not to have this done quickly as he is a free agent.

Im pretty sure Jay used us and Nova did the right thing and dumped Lappas to get a Wright.

Illinois will shoot higher than Sendek - he got fired from ASU - he's a great candidate for us - not so much others.
Pitino last 4 years would but him in the legends braket at RU - he gets at least one more year at Minn.

I thought I heard that Little Ricky had a pretty good class coming in at Minn. I would think that would prevent him from being canned.
Masiello's team at Manhattan is like 4 games under .500 this season. I don't think he should be considered. That plus the resume problem at USF should knock him out of consideration.
yes but that was before the sex tape and throwing off four players. This is the same school Minnesota which fired their AD for sexting and harassing employees. What the heck is the water at that school?
I don't see Willard as a hot candidate nor one especially for such a job here. He is good for that school but it took him 6 years to deliver a NCAA bid which was aided by the hiring of Morton.
