Sendek with some good assistants would be a homerun. Will Brown and Hurley...meh
I agree. Not thrilled about Brown or Hurley either. Like Sendek - pretty boring basketball but he wins.

I'm sure you and others feel that way now, but also think as RU MBB starts getting better, the thought of just staying close to the top will not be part of your thinking.Im not sure why you are concerned about being only middle of the pack when we aren't there yet, we have no idea how RU fans will react once we make the promise land, its been so long...10 plus years since the program has had a pulse even with Waters
I don't have any illusion of RU competing for Big !0 championships in my lifetime, its just not going to happen, the program. RU can be a Purdue/Iowa/Illinois type program that cycles through some good seasons and some mediocre, we are never going to be dominant...look at Pitt, Cuse, ND these schools aren't even competing for championships
Lonergan would jump at the job.
He's a perfect fit at GW. He could wait for the Georgetown job to open (me speculating). I'd love that hire.

I believe Sendek would jump at this job because he's out of coaching and this job is still in a P5 conference. I agree, Lonergan would be a long shot in my view, but you never know what someone may do if enough money and autonomy is thrown their way.Lonergan isn't leaving GW. He is a DC/MD guy. And he has a very good gig there. Makes you wonder if the rest is just as speculative.
I am intrigued by Masiello. Manhattan is always competitive
I think Massiello could be great but unfortunately not in a position to take a chance here and CollegeAv is spot on. he's not the sexiest choice but makes the most sense. coming from school with similiar lack of bball support, facilities, and recruiting obstacles.Sendek or bust.
Need a guy who has successfully run a P5 program. Not run a Manhattan, not Iona, not URI. Been there and done that. See Bannon, Kevin (Rider) or Waters, Gary (Kent)\.
Should we be worried that Illinois may make a coaching change and target Sendek. What if Little Ricky gets canned at Minnesota? They too could make a run for Herb
I was thinking ago
I was thinking about that. We dragged our feet years ago and it cost us Jay Wright. If he's Hobbs's number one choice, there's no reason not to have this done quickly as he is a free agent.
I'll take himGuy at work is Georgetown fan and wants junior gone.
Illinois will shoot higher than Sendek - he got fired from ASU - he's a great candidate for us - not so much others.Should we be worried that Illinois may make a coaching change and target Sendek. What if Little Ricky gets canned at Minnesota? They too could make a run for Herb

I thought I heard that Little Ricky had a pretty good class coming in at Minn. I would think that would prevent him from being canned.
The long suffering RU fan in me says that Sendek will play us for a better job just like all the others.
Why cant we make a run at Willard ?
The realist in me says that we need a pool of candidates in order to get someone to take our job.
