This team is not going to make the tournament. Not because we don't have the talent to make the tournament ... and not because the committee won't bend over backwards to get our two stars into the tournament ... but because Pike simply won't do the things necessary to get the team enough wins to get into the tournament. And that means telling the entire team, "sorry, you don't get to shoot unless it is a put-back layup or dunk," and making everyone crash the boards and box out. He just simply wont do it.
There’s no other player who can knock down a 3.

This team isn’t a bubble team. Wouldn’t be shocked if they finish last. Pike doesn’t have a clue what to do. He should be on the hot if this continues

When everyone said we were screwed not getting a center in the portal, we were gaslighted into thinking Ogbole was going to become an NBA player and we might “upset Lathan” … well we’re seeing exactly the result of that now. OSU 44 points in the paint to our 14. Horrible, abysmal - yet predictable.
If we are going to be this bad on defense, just embrace the fact that the roster built to be a 5-out perimeter based team.
Go on and go all-in on 3 point shooting and back door cuts.

This is such a bummer. I honestly don’t know how many other coaches in the B1G would blow this opportunity. Pike has not adapted to the portal era. And no, this is not an NIL problem

Myles Johnson carried those teams because he rebounded and played defense (despite the coaching).
I'm kind of tired of hearing about Talent. Some of these guys were the cream of the crop at lower conferences and on their prior teams. That doesn't mean they are going to be B1G superstars, but the staff is not putting anyone on position to succeed or play their best ball.
Not only that, but if you're going to construct a team, you should have some kind of vision as to how they fit your overall plan. This is coaching on every level.

Two years in a row being unprepared for the season with the roster. Idk I love what Pike has done for Rutgers but this year being a failure might be a fireable offense.
If we have any chance at the tourney, Pike’s going to have to just bite the bullet and try to outscore opponents.

Pike Big 10 finishes - 14, 14, 10, T-5, T-6, T-4, T-9, T-12. 63-92 overall. One post season win. Two great recruits, multiple outright failures. Saying the right things isn't near enough. Time to GO.
We plucked a few guys who are used to high usage, and they don't know how to fit in as role players. And none of them were ready for the physicality they would face.

Down 15 points with 3 minutes left and Pikiell has two career 40% three point shooters sitting next to him in the bench.
And yes I realize they stink defensively but that is my overall point. Pikiell did an awful job putting this roster together.
Either you recruit offensive guys and go full offense mode and run different things offensively or you keep your “identity” and recruit “Mag type” players for rebounding and defense.

To me, the indictment on Pike is that I'm convinced, if he told Harper to just try and take over the game 1 on 5, we'd be much better that we are now. That means the coaching is a net-negative on offense.
He's got enough goodwill and contract to outlast one disaster, a second and with a new AD he won't. If he doesn't at least make the NCAA's, no one will come here and it'll be a slow death.
Richie and co. do a great job with contributing and running the site but for the third year in a row they've run this facade all off season as to how good our transfers were and how good we looked in practice
I get it you need to drum up optimism to get clicks and eyes on the site but don't lie to a loyal and now dissapointed fanbase that we are going to be something we are not
We all depend on those reports because we don't have the luxury of being in the facility for practice or scrimmages or workouts
Not blaming the website just saying I think we all got setup for a huge letdown when realistic expectations should have been presented
Others have been vocal about what a great coach and staff. I’ve questioned that. This game should finally open the eyes of those wearing Scarlet glasses. Eight years and our new excuse will be “we are young”. Next year will be “we lost two NBA lottery picks”. How about it just be what it really is - our coaching is not very good.

What funding? Unless Ron Harper has a third son who is a lottery pick (whose best friend is also a lottery pick), we're back to recruiting being where it was six or seven years ago.
