It’s discouraging that we don’t seem to have a light at the end of the tunnel. We have 0 offensive plays, we expect Pike to come up with some and the team learn them in the next 2 days? Incoming another blowout against PSU. Watching the next game now, Iowa vs Michigan, two more blowouts incoming - these teams run great offense. We literally run 0 offense.

We have terrible perimeter defenders. Slow footed except for Dylan. People blow by them with ease. Once that happens it’s over. It’s not getting fixed this year.

I happen to agree with this but watching our players and the coaching they receive they wouldn’t get to the right spots to properly execute it.
Watching where have had success I would be pressing full court all game and getting back into M2M first and 3-2 zone as a switch.

This team just lacks leadership, coaching, and toughness.

Nothing is as good or as bad as it seems. I fully expect this team to blow out some B1G teams at home. This was the first B1G game and first away B1G game for all but 3 guys, one of whom doesn’t play much.

The hope was the talent level of our big two would overcome the lack of experience. That didn’t happen. Tough to win in the road in this league, especially when tou don’t play D. Our newbies couldn’t deliver that and the D took a step back today. To me that’s the most alarming thing. They aren’t learning as a team. It starts with individual defense and ends with poorly rotated or non rotated team defense.

Forget everything else. Unless that gets better we will not win an away game in this league.

But.. if I were a truly neutral observer?
We are #74 in kenpom, we were #82 in NET (will drop), we are barely projected to be over .500 overall much less in the Big Ten. We are 0-3 in Q1, 0-1 in Q2, and have 1 Q3 win in overtime. I know it's almost hard to believe this with Ace and Dylan here but as of right now we aren't a bubble team, we're just a bad team.

I don’t think they can play defense, period. 2-2-1 zone, 2-1-2 zone, 3-2 zone, 2-3 zone, man-to-man, full court press, I don’t think it matters. I don’t think you will see this team playing good defense this year, in any type or variety. If these guys were in their second year playing with Pike maybe there would be hope for understanding and execution of a team defensive system, but with all the freshman and new portal guys it is apparent that nobody has a clue as far as how to play cohesive and connected team defense. This is on Pike for thinking this would work in such a critical season for the program and also on the players as they need to show more effort and understanding of team defensive concepts.
