If this doesn't cry, I'm desperate so I'll mention potential recruits than I don't know what is. He has to know he's gone so he's going to play the " have to keep me because of recruiting pitch".
He is also delusional thinking he's doing good in recruiting.

"I think in recruiting, we're doing very well," Flood said. "I'm really excited about our recruiting class. The recruits have done an excellent job of understanding who we are as a program and not being distracted by any of the other stuff that may be going on around them."

He was asked he if could comment on the two kids who signed their aid papers early. Should he have said no comment? Or how about, I can't mention them by name but in total our recruiting sucks.

I

I'd think it's even sadder but typical you find anything wrong in what he said. He said the exact same thing any coach in his position would say. Nothing more, nothing less.

So many here post nonsense in hopes they get the agreement they so desperately crave. The fact they keep kicking the dead carcass says a lot. We should all just let him walk off into the sunset. He failed as a coach, he isn't guilty of a capital offense..

But he won't go willingly because he actually thinks he's doing a good job. Shea knew he was doing a shitty job towards the end and came to accept it. Every November flood just thinks to himself "next year will be the year" and people buy it.

I want Flood gone but need to keep our receivers in this class.

Flood's comment that "recruits are doing an excellent job understanding who we are as a program, etc." Is 1. An admission that he knows that the program isn't in a very good place...and 2. He leaves out the fact that he is the one that led the program to where it is.

In 4 years he's gone from selling the idea of winning championships, to recruits have to understand where the program is right now. He talks as if he has what it takes to right the ship while ignoring the fact that he is the one that got us off course.

At this point, it is more than frustrating to listen to anything the guy has to say.

And neither would you or anyone else here with the $ and your future involved. I swear some of you have lost any ability to think rationally.

No one here is "buying it". If anything he's doing RU a favor. The longer he can keep the class together or at least somewhat still focused on coming to RU, the better it is for whoever comes in next.

I know why he's not quitting. I'm not being irrational, I understand he would leave money on the table. However, IF it's true RU wanted to fire him in Sept and he "lawyered up" and threatened to take down the university than he is selfish scumbag as far as I'm concerned. Plain and simple.

And yes, plenty of people are buying into 2016 as the year (they claim schedule gets easier, Russo will be here, etc.). Go read some of the posts on this board. It's frightening.

106 days since our last commit.
149 days since our last NJ commit.
36 days since our starting QB threw a TD pass.
But other than, we're doing fine.
Are guys even visiting at this point? If we don't hire a new coach our summer recruiting is going to be putrid

I don't agree. That's how the games played. But no way such a threat should make us change our course of action. If so, it would confirm everyone's perception that we are a two bit operation. Rutgers has a bunch of lawyers too.

The only 4 star player in this class is now taking more visits. The odds of Rene sticking are less than 5%

Given Flood's history, I never believed Rene would stick from the moment we got the verbal. I think late-December into January are going to be some painful weeks for us. Whether he stays or goes, Flood has left the cupboard bare for years thanks to his inability to recruit.

As to this thread more generally, what do people expect Flood to say? He's not going to go on record and trash his recruits (who are some of the only people in the country standing by him at the moment). Any college coach, at any level of competition, is always going to say nice things about the kids he's taking on. If nothing else, it's common courtesy. Flood is a lot of things (bad coach, worse recruiter, stubborn) but he's a pretty courteous guy.

It is baffling.

Think of it this way. There are still people on this board that support Flood. On Thursday it will be FIVE MONTHS since a NJ kid pledged his support to Rutgers. People are worried about hiring someone and going back to the "Shea era", but did Terry Shea go an entire half a year getting rejected by EVERY SINGLE NJ kid?

I see the emailgate as a scummy move, not the "lawyering up". You don't think Sexton like any good agent/lawyer didn't advise him anything else would be an admission of guilt and financial suicide? You wouldn't "lawyer up" with all that's at stake? Come on.

You expect full agreement here on anything? Yes, there are a few holdouts but so what? They aren't making the decision are they?

Btw, do you see the 2016 schedule being easier? I see the same degree of difficulty at best, especially OOC. UNM is having a fairly good year for them and return most of their D. Two QB's who alternate and while they're not the graetest passers, both can run when necessary. Both they and UW are better than anyone from this year other than WSU and UW is on the road.

I see your point. And no, I don't think the 2016 schedule is easier at all. I think the minority of Flood supporters who are left will be in for a rude awakening in 2016 if he's kept on and we go 5-7. And that's where we are headed. At least with a new coach there would be "hope" beyond next season. No, we keep him and we are just delaying the inevitable for the third straight season. Last year Fridge's presence provided a mild reprieve but even so without the miracle comeback vs. Maryland, we were looking at 6-6 again.

Why can't people post without your psychoanalysis ?

You can find it sad really? Find me 1 example of any coach during the season who comments on his recruiting. Coaches who comment on recruits a year in advance and 4 months before those committs even sign a letter are desperate. If you find it sad maybe ignore it

Where are the 'experts" with the inside information on this subject? They never miss an opportunity to let you know they have knowledge the general public, and even the press don't. The silence is deafening.

Coaches comment on recruiting all the time. They just don't give specific answers, NSD is a little more than 2 months away, not 4 months as you said. As I said, if he's trying to hold the class together no matter his agenda that's a positive for Rutgers in the future no matter who replaces him. Why can't you understand that?

Read the thread. He was asked a question about recruits and gave a general answer. What do you and others really expect him to say? What would any coach in his position say?

You and others seem desperately to want him to say "I suck, my coaches suck, recruiting sucks, our team sucks, and Rutgers sucks". It ain't happening here and didn't happen at Maryland, Iowa State, Texas Southern, or anywhere else before their coach was fired.

Sources typically take Sundays off. They gotta catch up on yard work & kid stuff.

Flood is excited about how recruiting is going ... that sounds very promising. Oh, wait, he was also excited about playing Ohio State at home this year.

What are you looking for? Nothing has changed. Flood is still getting the boot.
Do you really think winning a squeaker against Army
had changed anything?

But he won't go willingly because he actually thinks he's doing a good job.

I'm not sure if he believes he's doing a good job or not, but it's that type of attitude (never admit or show signs of frustration) that appear very bad when things are going poorly. It makes the idea of him being stubborn and being out of touch seem that much more prevalent.

I WISH he got angry sometimes... show that the losses do mean something to him. Instead, he acts as if he's got total job security and he's sure he can help Laviano and the team become contenders when they're seniors...

Folks things are bad for us and only getting worse. Don't think it's not . If schiano came here it would be instant juice trust me . But he probably Wong come here with so many hating on him and not appreciating what he did . Can't think of how this ends on a good note. We will lose recruits , any momentum we had in the past and we will lose fans . I don't want to be a Debbie downer but I've this show before.

He's DELUSIONAL if he think's we're recruiting well.

I don't agree that Shea knew he was doing a shitty job and accepted it at the end. Mulcahy sat him down, told him he could be fired, or he could resign and finish out the season. He chose to resign. I'm not sure what Flood would choose if given the choice.

He won't resign. And technically, he is still a few games over .500 as HC so he's probably using that as his leverage. Hey, I was 100% behind him as recently as August. I thought he could end up being a 10 year guy here. But now I see that KF without Freidgen < KF with Friedgen. 2013 and 2015 is the proof in the pudding for me. I attribute a majority of the 2014 success to Fridge and Gary Nova.

Wait...he ACTUALLY said that ("have to keep me...") AND THINKS we're "recruiting well"???

HOLY FREAKIN' WOW and DELUSIONAL!!

He didn't say "have to keep me." He does think we're recruiting well, but not sure what else he's supposed to say.

I want Flood gone, but I don't understand why some people (not singling you out NUTS - this is a general comment) go to such great lengths to twist fairly innocuous statements and situations into rants about Flood. He'll be fired or not, based on his record, email-gate and overall lack of discipline - people don't need to manufacture additional reasons.
