I love Mike Williams, but between the NCAA talk and the constant texts to Carrington he didn’t play up to the role of captain tonight. Looking too far ahead and didn’t keep the team grounded after the big win. He’s been here too long and should have known better. BUT...he’s a kid. I hope this teaches him, the team, Pike and our fanbase a big lesson.

What?

How about blaming the guys that missed 11 free throws, or the guy who inbounded the ball directly to stony brook player for the game tying 3.

I actually agree, except that the fan base does not need to learn a lesson.

Rutgers loss this game because they were out coached and out played .Sanders and Baker were missing in action during the first half when Stony Brook was equally inept on offense.Rutgers could have built up a double digit lead if they scored just 10 points between them.Fans expect them to be Rutgers go to scorers.

Losing this game with a 5 point lead and seven seconds remaining in the game is totally unacceptable. The inbounds plays resulted in two turnovers and five points by Stony Brook to force the game into overtime. In OT Rutgers simply had no answers on defense allowing Stony Brook to make layups while Rutgers struggled to get contested shots off .
Fans have seen too many of these nightmare losses in the past and to see this dismal performance after the Seton Hall win is truly upsetting.

Many guys played poorly tonight. Mike threw 2 passes that were intercepted for layups on the other end. With 15 seconds left we had the ball under our basket and Mike was inbounding, The 5 seconds were going and he seemed to panic and threw a lb ball near half court that Eugene could not gather and fell out of bounds only taking one second off the clock. We should have just inbounded under the basket. Even if they intercepted they would have had to drive the length of the court. I cannot believe we couldn't get that ball in. Eugene had a bad game too only scoring one point. Corey and Baker only had two points combined in the first half. We hit 7 of our first 12 shots to start the game and than went 3-17 for the rest of the half. It was a horrible performance on many fronts.

SB outHUSTLED us
Cory went 4-14
Eugene had ONE point
We were outrebounded(SB had 2 GUARDS get 10 REBS each)
we were 4-18 at the charity line

PLENTY of blame to go around
BUT
one game does NOT BREAK us

~painful lesson~
and
we move on
