Dylan Powell Offer

Been a lot of talk on the boards about QB recruits. Always nice to have a great QB.

But to my way of thinking, the highest priority right now is linemen (both O and D). Put together a great O line and you can make less than great QBs and RBs look a lot better. Put together a great D line and you can make less than great DBs and LBs look a lot better.

I hope that Ash's recruiting theme is "it's the linemen, stupid".

Folks don't realize that Blazek was up to become Minnesota's new OL Coach this year...and last year, Iowa's Ferencz
strongly considered Blazek to be his OL Coach and RECRUITING COORDINATOR!

Umm...probably won't see the field for at least two years. You don't think he can get bigger in that amount of time?
This. It would be different if this was a 23 year old headed for the NFL, where he is probably done growing. At 18, with no college S&C yet, it is possible he could have the body of a prototype guard.

I like seeing the staff can reach out to new parts of the country for talent.

Agreed 6'4" 280 is undersized .....
As a Junior, Senior in College! But, as a High School Senior that VERY good size. Especially, if you understand/consider footwork, padlevel, hand positioning, etc. This kid is projected as a guard or center at the next level, which at 6'4" is just about right.

pretty sure he was being sarcastic.

The ONLY OL I saw that happen with was a backup who came in at 310 lbs of flab, got down to maybe even lower than 250 lbs and then back up to 290 lbs of solid muscle. He was set to start his 5th year but got injured. Other than that please give an example of an OL who came in at 280 lbs and got down to 255 lbs.

3 of the 4 current Ohio St. OL commits are listed at 275. 2 are 6'6", 1 is 6'4".

I am friends with Dylan's dad, went to HS together- Dylan played both OL and DL- on offense was a road grader, on Defense teams ran away from him. He also blocked 3 punts and took on back 50+ yards to the house and took a fumble back for a TD as well. He is an All State- Group 4 OL men, was also all Conference and All district as a BB player and was all State in track in both the shot and discus. Has verbaled to Purdue, has offers from RU, Va Tech, Memphis, Iowa State,Navy and Stanford. He is a great student and a good kid. Would be a great Rutgers guy.

Offensive lineman out of Missouri, Coach Blazek offered him yesterday. His highlight film looks pretty good. 6'3", 275, a real road grader on film. He's currently a Purdue commit. For what it's worth, 247 Sports thinks he'll flip to Rutgers...
Maybe has 3 offical visit left to take- has 10 schools in consideration, has to narrow it down.

Of course- that is how I found out he has 3 officals left- we talk often even gave him heads up about coaches I heard wre leaving or could be out like Ill coach who offered before he was fired. Shocked Bill Cubit has not offered,

I ho

I hope he visits. I also hope HCCA does away with those stupid pictures of recruits with the knight. Let's get something more cutting edge out there.

Shoeless Joe, tell him Purdue was 2-10. Another bad year and coach is gone.

Shields- he knows DH is on the hot seat- they have a good QB and WR on the team and the Defense is ok. I expect Dylan to visit Va Tech, Rutgers and Stanford.
