I also think if fans are going to discuss how the OOC is terrible in May of 2019, you have to be able to own the discussion about where the program is or isn't in December of 2019.
There's a serious syndrome around a large amount of RU fans that refuse to understand that lack of money and revenue has been the overwhelming factor in having most if not all of the sports programs succeed.
It's not refusing to accept an invitation to the Big East 40 years ago, or whether we shouldn't have hired this coach or that coach, or whether this player didn't sign with RU as some sort of bogeyman. As if RU is supposed to function in a major market, without press, without fans, with the ability to fly below the radar, through some side door into the NCAAs.....or that thinking about a goal, like 90% of programs, is losing focus.
There is no flying under the radar for RU football, basketball, wrestling etc. At some point, the program has to embrace the spotlight, the coverage, the attention that comes with being the premier CBB program in the state/region. Even if it's far fetched or far from reality, you cannot get anywhere, by hiding from expectations.
I just dont see how you get from point A to point G, H, I, without going through this process of talking about what-ifs....why are we any different than anyone else in the B1G, Pac 12, Big 12, ACC, Big East or SEC...etc.???
There's going to be 2 or 3 hiccups along the way, because they happen to every program that goes through the process....it's not a jinx or getting ahead of yourself, it's the actual rebuilding process, happening in real time, with real mistakes, real achievements and the inevitable disappointment through the process of getting to the next levels.
I don't quite understand why fans are afraid of success or what it takes to get there. Or would we rather discuss how many opponents fans sit where during conference games??
This is a LOT of fun for me and wouldn't have it any other way.....
