People gave Cooley a hard time at the press conference, but one of his rants was spent praising Pike and the school, the fans and the atmosphere. He said Hobbs needs to give him another raise and extension and he’s a big Pike fan. Said this is a “Big East environment” and one of the toughest places to play in the country. Worth a listen (start at 4:00 minutes):

He clearly knows little about our guards, though. Talking about them being older, around 4-5 years, in the system.... How he'd expect them to be good.

Fernandes is older, but he was playing in just his fourth game at Rutgers. Simpson is a true sophomore with a handful of starts under his belt. Davis and Griffiths are true freshmen playing in their fourth collegiate game.

The only guy that fit his description is Hyatt.

Exactly. I was wondering who the hell he was talking about.

He’s right. Amazed when we win there.

He's saying our atmosphere is so good it's at "Big East" levels 🙄
We know what he meant-- his comment is self serving BS-- the atmosphere is our own and BIG games don't need to be slighted. Has he ever attended a Georgetown or DePaul game. He screwed up so much about our players in his presser maybe he thinks we're still in the Bigeast.
