Commentator has a more favorable view of Ash than Forde. He puts ASH at #6 out of 24 ,IIRC, just ahead of Durkin and had some good things to say about the hire of Ash and Mehwinger.

Richt clearly is the best head coach on that list based on his prior record at Georgia.

I'm surprised how low Kirby Smart is ... after Bill Cubit? Wow. Muschamp, I get. That was a terrible hire.

I also don't get Willie Fritz after Scott Frost. Fritz has been the head coach of some very good teams. Scott Frost ... well, he was a good quarterback, kind of. Hard to separate his work at Oregon from Helfrich's.

Wow. Cubit ahead of Smart and Muschamp. Interesting to say the least.

I am going on a limb and thinking their reasoning was that for SEC schools with the resources they have, all three hires (#11-#13) were uninspiring and not going to help them climb mountain.

Helton is perplexing to me. Then it looks like they put the MAC HC hires over our top coordinator hires. (Babers and Campbell ahead of Durkin and Ash).

Agree. That was way too high. They had all the money in the world and they went the internal hire route. USC is not the place where new head coaches can cut their teeth.

Sounds to me like they want to save their recruiting class. :)

We are very fortunate to have C. Ash! He is sixth on a list of 13, which include a wealth of HC experience. To be that high, with no P5 Head Coaching exp., relates to his perceived abilities, as well as potential.
We can only sit back and enjoy his stay with us. Go RU!
