SB shot the lights out from three, held a 10 point 2nd half lead, and our guys answered with a 15-0 run of their own. These guys just don't quite under Pike. Could've easily lost a close one on the road, but instead gutted this one out and prevailed. Excellent road win for our guys tonight. 9-1!

This team how shown that they do not give up. They also show that they are flawed and will go through massive slumps in scoring. We should have won this game going away, I'm just glad we were able to pull it out.

Stony brook is 3-6 but can still go win their conference tournament and get to the NCAAs again. They are a good team. Do not underestimate this win is right.
In years past we would NEVER win a game like this. After the Seawolves went up by 10 in the second half, we would have folded. Not this team. Not this coaching staff.
Although down by 5-10 in the first half, we didn't panic. If SB had kept up hitting their shots in the 2nd half and ended up winning so be it. If your doing everything right and it's not enough, sometimes that happens.
In spite of our scoring droughts, we managed to hang in and do the little things in order to win.
SB certainly didn't look like a 3 win team and maybe emotion played a big part. They have guys that can move without the ball and make shots when they are open. That makes up for some deficiencies.
I really liked how we never gave up the lead at the end even when SB had a few chances to tie the game. Showed some poise especially when we lost a rebound on the end line and gave them another chance. Also, their last 3 that appeared to be in, but stayed out. And we hit the FTs to seal it.We're winning and learning with a purpose which can be beneficial somewhere down the road. The CS has shown the team how to be successful when you don't bring the "A" game and at this stage is very impressive. Keep up the good work.
Great job by the team (and coaches) to change the game plan in the second half. They made a conscious effort to attack the basket and got a lot of fouls called on SB. Those free throws made the difference (not to mention a great job knocking them down after starting out 3 of 8).
I was at the game and RU 3 point defense needs work. Stony Brook made a lot of 3's but they were good looks which is why they shot a high %. not that they were just hot. RU interior D was very good and kept SB to the perimeter.
Stony Brook was amped for this game and really hustled their butts off and won a majority of the 50/50 balls. I agree the difference in this game is that RU guards attacked the rim and made things happen and Freeman did a nice job rebounding. He also did a very good job on #15 of SB in the 2nd half. He scored 15 in first half and I think only scored 3 ( 3 pointer with about 2:30 to go).
Hard to overcome almost 50% from 3 so getting the win was nice. I will say that if they played on a neutral floor Rutgers would win by 15-20. Nice win!
Rutgers wasn't going to win this game going away because Stony Brook had a amazing 3 point shooting performance and Sanders was on the bench for 10 minutes in the first half because of foul trouble.
Rutgers had the better athletes and Stony Brook had the better shooters which made it a very entertaining game to watch.
