Thanks. Looks pretty nice. Lots of new housing stock in NB.

It's great to have this new housing stock. Does anyone have any data on why the occupants are moving into it. Are they empty-nesters? Are they commuters to NYC? Are they faculty/grad students? Curious minds want to know.

$2000+ a month isn't cheap

True, but rents are high all over NJ for new "luxury" style apartments. I have a recent college grad son who pays $2000 a month to live in a new apartment in Somerville, NJ. A nice town, but probably less to offer than NB. And, in Morristown, NJ the nice one-bedroom rents are closer to $2600/month.

It's not new. It is the old Middlesex County Administration Building (near the top left in the picture below). It was converted to apartments about 15 years ago.

Thanks. I didn't realize that. It claims to be newly renovated.

rents in New Brunswick for a two Bedroom run from 2400-3,000. Our tenants are a nice mix of empty nesters, individuals working at RWJUH, Medical School, Rutgers, and J&J, commuters (often on part of a couple working locally and the other commuting) and more recent graduates 24-26 year old who were Rutgers graduates and work in sales up and down the turnpike.

Still recognizable, but so much has changed hasn't it? This is before the Gateway, One Spring Street, Key Foods building...obviously Ferren Deck was still being used.

Not all of Morristown is that expensive. You can live decently for $1700, and there are cheaper, not so nice options. But go to Hudson County and Morristown looks cheap.
Inquiring minds want to know...what's a Hudson 2bd/2ba apartment cost? I suspect it in turn looks like a bargain compared to Midtown Mht.

Agreed. I was talking about new "luxury" construction that is walk to everything. Those apartments are that expensive!

Those aren't the same two tall buildings in those pictures. Look again.
which 2 buildings? the building with the "white top' in the 1st pic and the tall building behind the ferren deck in the 2nd pic (ariel view) ARE the same building. the Courthouse building that was built with its sides as 45° angle to the streets was gutted and renovated inside & out and finally brickfaced to become the building with the 'white top'

Yeah, but add 5 minutes to that walk and live in an older building and you pay much less.

My sense of JC, not living there, is that Newport will pay close to Manhattan prices, while The Heights is more like an outer borough.
