***Five RU players dismissed from team***

No surprises there.

Time to move on.

BIG TEN SEASON #2... HEAR WE GO!

I guess your guilty until proven innocent at Rutgers. Sucks to be the guy in the wrong place at the wrong time. O well bye bye fellas good luck in life hope you can straighten it out.

Glad that it got mentioned on college game day, needed more attention

Don't know the whole story - obviously Boggs was gone, but thought the others were just going to be suspended a few games based on the little I knew. That being said if it was that intense I am happy they were dismissed from the team - we are not that program. Again, timing a little odd 5 min before the game.

The timing is right for one - the focus is on the game, might as well sneak one through.

Not for nothing. Ruhanne Peele is an imbecile. He got a second chance and completely clusterf***** it. How do you make poor decisions up till you're 21?

My guess is that the administration at RU got a very detailed story from the cops and figured it was time to cut all of these guys loose.

Really hope they have more information than what's been disclosed in the papers about the fight. Last time I checked being charged with a crime does not equate to a conviction. Don't understand why the four players couldn't be suspended until the process completed.

I'm surprised that the ones with the lesser bail amounts got dismissed from the team. But as someone said earlier, the story from the Police and Prosecutor must have been pretty specific as to the charges.

Having said that I'm glad they got tossed. Now the team can move forward without this as a distraction. Next man up and start offering more DB's in recruiting. Go RU !

I felt they needed to be dismissed. But these kids are gonna have an uphill battle going forward in trying to have a bright future. They will pay their dues. Please try wishing them the best and getting their heads straight. Calling them trash or garbage only makes you look like a classless fan.

To partially save their jobs Flood and Julie have to show a hard line right now

Unlike a lot of schools, many older alum and others weren't thrilled about going big time in sports at the beginning. They have grown to accept and most like it, but they take pride in the reputation this school has academic wise around the country.

They get extremely frustrated and embarrassed when sports puts RU on the radar in a bad way. The Athletic Department has to show the academic side things like this will not be tolerated

Being charged with a crime does not equate to a conviction. Being charged with a crime is an embarrassment to the team. If you don't want to be kicked off the team, don't put yourself in a position to be arrested. It was the right move.

Great decision! A message had to be sent out to the football players and the public about Rutgers' zero tolarance policy toward using physical strength violently in unprovoked confontrations.

If the "investigation" has been going on since April. It's seems like they would know everything there is to know by now. So if they cut them from the team they had a good reason.

It was probably done yesterday but this is first time the team has released info too the press
Yeah, well, a moderator for this board should be more thoughtful than to post this "breaking news" on this board just minutes before kickoff. Very professional of him.

RU did their homework and it tells them these kids are going down, obviously a one sided assault, not a simple fight.
See ya...great move

It's by design. Get it over with before the real story (the game) is told. These guys are now a footnote. The school released the information when it did for a reason.

Wtf are you even talking about? I'm very serious? Are you mad at Bobby? What would you have preferred him to do? Wait until after the game? I assume he posted as soon as he found out. You are aware he doesn't work for RU, right? He wouldn't know until RU told the press

My point is this is a forum for Rutgers football. Members of ScarletNation have just emerged from, what, a week of breaking news on this "scandal" ? And today just five minutes before kickoff, Deren pulls a SL move. Is his "news" really "news" to us? Didn't we know this was coming? Again, it's the timing and the outlet that make this schmucky.

It's an unfortunate life lesson for these young guys, but they put themselves in the position they're in and now they're suffering the consequences, and they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Sometimes you only get to screw up once, but in this case at least one of the guys involved, Peele, had multiple opportunities and still couldn't get, (or more to the point...keep, his act together). -Eventually, though, you're gonna have to pay the piper. And now, as far these guys are concerned, the piper is gettin' his.

It's being reported that there's video of the alleged assault and that cell phones of certain players were taken with the approval of a court order. Maybe this news hastened their exit.

Let alone how many programs have friendly boosters who represent said players arrested and in many cases, they get charges dropped on numerous technicalities, which has nothing to do if players broke team rules and/or direct evidence shows they did something really stupid, regardless if they ever get convicted.

Players get kicked out of programs all the time for breaking team rules (i.e. not crimes) as sometimes coaches have to get rid of bad apples (usually, this is not the first time player has been in trouble with a program).

This is strike 2 and 3 for most of these guys..certainly hard to feel bad for them.

I predict this aspect of the story will grow legs (thanks to the SL pushing it) once the game news slows down.

If there is video, it's a bit strange that it took 4 months to make arrests.

Rutgers and video -- rarely a good combo.

I have faith there is plenty of evidence to support this decision, hope these players the very best in making good choices going forward.
