How lucky is Kyle Flood?

Bill's record in New England:

With Tom Brady 219-64 .774%
Without Tom Brady 47-57 .452%

Not saying that he's a bad coach but when you have one of the greatest QBs of all time that doesn't hurt.
The man knows football as well as any person who has ever lived. When my son was in camp with him, he did say he learned a lot from his film breakdown of every single position. Kevin had to know the WR playbook better than the WR's did. Just a brilliant mind.

That said- no feel for people or players. While he recognized talent - he lived and died via Brady and a number of the best defensive players(not HOF but just 11 very very good)

There's talk of Sarkisian up for Dallas job
Flood worked with Sark at Atlanta and got brought to Bama and then TX by him
Maybe Flood gets to play remora eel on Sark one more time

You really hate him, don't you?

I remember reading from insiders and to those I spoke to that Flood enjoyed the aura of being a head coach and didn't put in the work required of a head coach. His limited success at RU was with Schiano players. There was also a poster on this board whose wife worked for the football team and Flood was extremely disrespectful to her, using foul language and Schiano had to actually redress him for his disrespect of the team's administrative employees.

You are really going way out of your way here. Did you hear this at the Subway on Easton?
How about just giving it a rest? Is was nearly 15 years ago. Some people change. It was obvious he was not ready to be a head coach. Sark had his issues too when he was at USC. A lot of coaches go to Alabama to learn, and that's what both Sark and Flood did, and both seem to be doing well. Maybe you should try to stop living in the past and dragging people down with old stories?

I also heard that after Pernetti was fired and Julie Hermann undermined him he really stopped putting in the work. I wonder how things would have worked out if Pernetti stayed.

I understand you sticking up for Flood, that’s your prerogative. I don’t post rumors. I only post what I’ve heard from reliable people, not this Subway bs. The husband of the woman being berated was a regular poster on both boards, not some troll.

Is SN and ashokan the same person and forgot to change screen names? lol

Yes- Flood actually was working hard as hell and that is a big part of why so many top kids were coming to visit...But, that said, he had no experience and Greg 1.0 was not the best mentor at that time. So, Flood was trying to do what he could and Tim was helping

Flood, like Greg and Tim, was a huge "character" guy as well. When Julie came in...she wanted her guy and wanted to make a statement. Keep in mind where she came from. Character, was not a top priority and it is why Coach Strong needed a sign in the locker room to basically remind his players not to do drugs, beat women carry weapons, etc...

When she came in, is when everything changed.

Flood wasn't ready but far from lazy and a bad character guy. He just gave up.

And no coach at the NFL/Bama/Texas level just carries a guy along because they are friends- Flood brings stuff to the table at that level.

Because Ash took us into the sh%$er. Even if Flood stayed and maintained the status quo, and then left, Sciano 2 would have started with the program in better shape, and we would be better today. Make sense?
Yes. But the problem wasnt firing flood , he deserved and should have been fired . Ash was a terrible choice as HC and it was known by some at the time

What do you mean if pernetti stayed ? It’s not like he had a choice. Pernetti resigned before he was canned.

I meant if Pernetti stayed on the job, i.e., wasn't fired, terminated, resigned, canned, etc. In other words, if Pernetti was still working as the Athletic Director versus him NOT working as the Athletic Director. So if Pernetti was not unemployed as the Athletic Director, that means he would still have been the Athletic Director. Clear?

Right.. but the way you worded it was “stayed “ and made it seem like you were implying pernetti left on his own . Nah he stunk and had to resign before he was terminated. Clear

Not sure where you got that when I said:

So what? What was that more than 15 years ago? There are two sides to a story, and maybe there was more to the story. I'm not sticking up for Flood, I'm sticking up for not slandering a person for something that may or may not have happened 15 or more years ago. Why is it so important to you that you are still bringing it up. You started this thread saying Flood is "lucky." Numerous posters have detailed that he is a good/great OL coach. Do you think Sark would be bringing Flood along on 3 stops in his career if he was a terrible coach and/or person? Newsflash for you- people learn, grow and change. Let's take your story as fact--maybe he learned from it and became a better person? Or then again, maybe it never happened and the poster had some sort of axe to grind. Hearsay is a terrible tool to use to slander someone. Have a nice day.

And SN- I think @yesrutgers01 might know a little bit more about Flood as a person and his character than some random "regular poster" from 15 years ago who no longer posts here?

Barchi really f'd up RU athletics in a number of ways. He should have stepped down after the Mike Rice incident for dereliction of duties, instead of being a typical executive worm and firing a subordinate who asked him to review the video tape and he declined. Then he allowed the epic disaster of an AD Julie to be hired and things spiraled downward from there.

Belichick's record as head coach of the Cleveland Browns was 37-45
36-44 Reg season ( 1991 to 1995), 1-1 playoffs (1994)
