Arkansas has non-compete clauses which prevents assistants from moving to schools within the SEC.

My guess that this would not prevent a move to a head coach, and only applies to lateral-type moves, but the article doesn't provide details.

I am curious as to the Board's thoughts on these clauses. I would tend to favor them for our assistants, but limit it to the B1G East since we don't play the west schools often.

I saw on one of the Ohio State boards that the Big Ten has a similar gentleman's agreement which is why Ash spent a year in Arkansas before joining Meyer.

Whaaaat! Then explain why the new Maryland and Rutgers head coaches come from other B1G schools without a year hiatus in nowhere land. Are they not gentlemen?

That is a pretty smart rule. I am guessing it would need to be a major promotion to be allowed:
ie. Coordinator to Head Coach or Grad Asst to full time coaching staff

Not sure if position coach to coordinator would be allowed.

I think the NFL has a rule like that too where a team cannot block a coach from interviewing if it would be a promotion.
