I came across these articles today about Frank Solich returning to Lincoln for the spring football game. The invitation was to "honor" Solich for his success as Nebraska's head coach during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Is everyone supposed to forget that Nebraska fired Solich after a 10-3 season that was deemed to be not up to Nebraska's standards. On his way out, Solich apparently "cursed" the future of Huskers football, resulting in a run by the four head coaches who followed him never equaling that 10-3 record. I've never rooted for the Huskers since that happened, as I thought it represented the worst in college athletics.

To his credit, Solich seemed to be graceful while receiving the honor and, as he waved his arms in Memorial Stadium, declared that the "Curse of Solich" as it had come to be known, was over. He had been invited by Nebraska's new coach, Matt Rhule, who can only hope that the curse has been lifted at last.
