It is a done deal? BigTen Is Canceling Football Season Tuesday?

Waiting for the formal announcement from the Big Ten Conference. The Detroit Press reported prior to a Big Ten Spokesperson saying there's not been a vote by the Schools Presidents. The vote that's been cited was a Medical vote.

Now also hearing that the Big Ten ADs are meeting at 6PM and not the Presidents. Most of the media usually gets it wrong - so much mis-information.

Ryan Day just said on ESPN he wouldn't rule out Ohio State playing in another conference this year if the Big 10 cancels the season. His AD must be overjoyed to hear that. They also speculated if athlete's in non playing conferences would transfer to schools playing.
Plus the players have joined forces around the country saying they want to play and have a say in it. Sounds like the beginning of a college football players union. All fast moving stuff.

That statement from Ryan Day (below) is at odds with reporting that only Iowa and Nebraska voted to play the season.

So either Ohio State also voted to play this year or Ryan Day didn't get the memo that his bosses boss said they ain't playing football this year. He's probably just trying to show his players that he's on their side.

Ryan Day echoed what most Big 10 coaches or coaches around the country would state presented with their Conference making the decision not to play football. He's paid to coach a football team, not watch the games on TV. Ultimately, Ryan Day is not in charge of making those decisions for the Ohio State University.

I think that these leaks of last night and today was a trial balloon sent out by the B10 to see if the other conferences would follow suit. The Pac 12 went along but the other conferences led by the SEC called their bluff.

This is not a done deal by any means

There wasn't a vote by anyone. Warren asked the 14 members of the conference medical team they appointed earlier this year what their opinion was on playing as of today. Not just for their school but in general. Warren was getting as much info as he could.

None of this makes any sense...

If the AD says no...how does OSU exit the B10 to play in another conference? Is there a GOR issue here?

If the players decide to transfer, are they willing to pay their own way as walk-ons? I presume that the scholarship limits aren't going away.

But But But...these are all strong healthy kids. And they aren't my kids playing anymore, so football is more important to me now.

This isn't fair!!!!!!
But but but they're actually safer playing and getting tested every day as opposed to going back home and doing whatever they want. No way they can get sick unless it's through football, because they will have no close contact with anybody off the field.

Mountain West is postponing until Sept 26. Look for B1G to also postpone and not cancel. Trial cancel balloon burst when SEC, ACC, and Big12 didn't join the cancel choir. Also, AAC, including Navy, not canceling. Nobody follows the PAC 12, they have no influence over anybody.

"The Mountain West will begin to explore the feasibility of rescheduling fall sports competition, including the possibility of those sports competing in the spring, and develop options for consideration. Athletically-related activities and training opportunities for enrolled student-athletes will also be evaluated consistent with NCAA legislation and guidance, as well as state, local and campus parameters."

It's probably best to cancel it at this point. It's giving the players the opportunity to unionize which will destroy college sports.

Cancel it, back to business next year.

Who said the virus is fake? This is why people think people like you cheer this virus on when you make dickhead comments like this.
Whatever. The only dickheads are people who downplay the virus, it’s lethality, long term complications for those who don’t die from it and politicize a simple solution like wearing a fing mask.

thanks for also ignoring the other part of my post where I wished everyone well.

Makes a lot of sense. SIAP it's in RU's interest to get the OOC games back on the schedule and I hope a delay can make it happen. Maybe even a Halloween season kickoff --10/31 is on a Sat this year for those keeping track at home lol.
