Apparently he just got sucker punched at camp by a disgruntled teammate. Broken Jaw. Out 6-10 weeks. Saw someone post it on Twitter. If true....DAMN.

They cut the guy that punched him. What a goddamn moron. I bet Geno must have really said something to set this guy off, to bring into the locker room like that. Then sucker punch the guy. What a loser.

sadly this will have almost no negative effect on the team. fitz probably was the best option for this team anyway. this team is designed to win on running the ball and playing great defense.

Should've signed him to a long term contact -- possibly the biggest favor the Jets have gotten in awhile.

Kidding aside, what's up with these QBs getting into scuffles? Cam Newton, Geno. They don't have the game to back up their ego. I bet Luck, Wilson, & Rodgers aren't getting into fights with teammates.

Yea but not having Richardson, Milliner, and Geno all available to start the season? That's certainly not good. NY pro football is a damn mess right now. Blind stupidity or crippling injuries....pick your poison.

Richardson is a huge loss. He's a top lineman in the league. Milliner, unfortunately, appears to have been a miss. I know he came on late last year but he was running with the 3d team CBs in the preseason. Overall, though, I agree. Just too much going on right now for a team that needs to have a good year.

Jet fans booed Geno at the scrimmage. Looks like they got their wish.

To my knowledge, Geno threw the first punch... but it fell a couple yards short.

But in all seriousness, that's quite the way to call it a career.

Yup- cut the guy and handed him his envelop full of cash on the way out with a pat on the back.

Not a Jets fan, but this is great for the team on the field. Fitzpatrick was always the better option. I think Petty is the best of the 3, but no experience. He will be the starter before long.

ive been to a couple practices this year. i like petty too but he's nowhere close to being ready. think 2016-17 at the earliest.

As I jets fan I can only say WTF. What a bunch of clowns.

Nova, Nova, Nova!!!!!!!

At least his teammate connected. Geno centered in on his target and still missed. Seriously grown men.

I wouldn't exactly call getting sucker-punch getting "into a fight" with somebody. In fact in most cases it qualifies as assault.

No, but I also doubt this guy walked up to Geno and sucker punched him for no reason. My point was that a good QB that's a team leader (Luck, Rodgers, Wilson) would not find himself in this situation.

Say there might have been some back and forth on the practice field. You don't think a guy like Philip Rivers engages in stuff like that? Or Tom Brady? Just that they have teammates that know better than to pull a stunt like that with the team's QB. There's a reason why the perpetrator was cut right on the spot and isn't likely to ever wear an NFL uniform again.

The craziest pummeling since Colin Farrell did a number of Rick Springfield's psychologist character in True Detective and that was only a few weeks ago.

Could this be Geno's swan song with the Jets ? May be a blessing in disguise if he never suits up for the Green and White again.

Although the perp is definitely to blame, Geno must have said something pretty egregious to get sucker punched like that. Not exactly showing leadership at the QB position.
