Terrible job by Jordan the second half as it was all coaching that won the game. One timeout left with eternity in the game. Inside game is a freaking joke. How do you lose a 16 pt lead and not put them away? Gonna be a long season folks. This staff is suspect also. Diallo and Laurent had nothing. Lewis....hahaha just a body at this point.

Make foul shots, very simple. daniels had one and one and missed. And Foreman is still bad from line.

Bad bad loss. Shot selection awful. Not know a shot clock violation. Not know coach wants a time out. Awful use of time outs. Not pulling Lewis. Stunningly bad free throws and form. Is there any coaching?

How can you not blame this on Eddie. Look at that rotation in the second half. We had 1 timeout with like 10 min left. And he let guys chuck up shots with a big lead.

Kind of true. Daniels had a great game but he should not have been the primary ball handler in that late game situation which led to the turnover. I called it that Daniels would cough it up. Luckily Sanders recovered it but unfortunately the refs missed a crucial foul call on the trip that would of sent him to the line

Also playing Diallo over Lewis and Foreman for that long stretch late in the game was also a suspect coaching decision. This is why having Doorson healthy at some point during the season, especially during Big 10 play will be very important because he's much more reliable than Diallo who's a very raw player

How I can see that Daniels should not be bringing the ball up the court against pressure in such a key moment in the game and Eddie doesn't does make me question him a bit but I'm still a fan of Eddie Jordan just so that's clear

With that said, this game was lost at the FT line. The missed call and the coaching decision wouldn't of mattered had Rutgers hit their free throws. But lots to learn from this game. Rutgers deserved to lose this one

The problem is EVERY shot we take is ill advised because no one on this team is capable of making even an uncontested jump shot. This is by far the worst shooting Rutgers team I can ever remember and it's not even close. I'm not talking threes, I'm talking anything other than a layup. Good shooters can mask a lot of sins. So many negatives after this one, hard to keep track. Bad shot selection by Sanders, horrible free throw shooting by everyone, horrible center play, cheap fouls. Daniels played great, Williams was good in the 1st half, and Foreman had some moments early but other than that, just ugly. St. John's is really bad too so this was opportunity to come away feeling good at 3-0. Instead, a meltdown.

Bishop Daniels had one of the poorer good games I have seen. Total hero ball. Sanders should be running the show whenever he is in, very willing to distribute.

Too many ill advised possessions when Daniels runs the point.

We would have lost by 20 if Daniels wasn't out there. How anyone can criticize Daniels after this game is beyond me.

And so it begins.....team goes 5-15 at the line and losses by 2 on the road with home team calls.......BUT, Mullin outcoached Jordan.
Explain the 1 to left with eternity left. Explain why he allowed players to chuck up quick shots. Sj was on the ropes. His personell choices were suspect in the 2nd half.

FTs lost the game, but I agree that Eddie made some pretty big gaffs in the 2nd half. He went zone for too long when we had the big lead and let SJU back in the game with a spate of threes, and he sat Sanders on the bench too long in the 2nd half while our offense was floundering. He also did not stop us from jacking up too many quick bad shots with the big lead instead of running the offense.

This one might have hurt if I wasn't so accustomed to it.

Sigh

You got to like the Johnnie's Mussolini hitting 3s when it counted, plus their center Count Mrivic had 40 rebounds, 25 on the offensive glass.

Lol...coming from the guy predicting 16-16

This an awful team...blame it on youth or whatever, but it doesn't change the fact that this team will struggle to hit 10 wins

I don't make predictions, preseason or game by game......check your facts

I have said for years that Rutgers mens basketball squad included far too many complementary type players and not enough difference makers.Rutgers shoots 5-14 at the foul line which is pathetic but even worse not one player stepped up in the last 5 minutes to protect the lead by making a critical basket or even getting a offensive rebound .We all know how dreadful Rutgers performs on the road and this embarrassing loss has to rank as one of the worse after giving away a 16 point second half lead.Rutgers scores 59 points which simply wasn't enough against a mediocre St.Johns team which tried on many occasions to give the game to Rutgers.

We would have lost if Daniels wasn't out there??? What game were you watching? He took so many ill advised shots and drives. He ws playing out of control the entire game and game up fortunate during stretches.

Free throw shooting and our Big Men playing defense killed us. This was not on coaching at all.

What personnel choices?

If you are referring to sitting Sanders, do you know what happened right before he sat him for that stretch?

He carried us for stretches of the game. With Daniels, the key is knowing when cash in your chips. He will undoubtedly awful destruct at key moments. Eddie should know better.

.
Daniels: 10-17 Shooting (1-3 FT), 21 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, 1 block, 2 assists, 4 turnovers, 2 fouls. Yeah, he really hurt us. You can check out the stat lines of his teammates and tell me who hurt us

Relax its an early season college basketball game that has very little importance. Hopefully RU can finish these games when there is actual something on the line. There will be growing pains as expected and while a tough loss is not really such a terrible thing like everyone is over-reacting like RU just lost a conference tournament game. Unlike football they play over 30 games so plenty of time to right the ship, show development and progress which is what realistically is what you want to see out of this year.

Who is over-reacting? We're just reacting because we're fans. Wins are not going to come easy and this was a blown opportunity. Not a whole lot of time to right the ship when you realize that starting December 30 we will probably be huge underdogs every night.

Thank you very much but I thought you were on a TV reality show in Washington?

I take your lack of response as confirmation that you have no idea what you are talking about, but, hey, it sounds good on a message board.

What opportunity was "blown" exactly? Having 12 wins instead of 13? Tell me what that counts for. RU just needs to pull out a few more conference wins and be competitive in more as well and for me book that as progress. The conference season is really the season within the season. At this point the non-conference games are glorified exhibition games. Even in wins vs. Clemson/Vandy last year it didn't matter much in regards to how folks reflected on the season overall.

You're right, my bad. I'll stop watching until the real season begins.

With no reliable scorers, we will live and die with Daniels/Williams all season. Bishop, who I have found to be unwatchable at times, showed some talent I didn't know he had in him. I'm encouraged by his effort. $$$$

Jordan lost this game. Which is why I still can't get excited about the program's future. EJ continues to be a poor college coach.
