Let's go METS 2016 thread ......Just get in and anything can happen!

I know TC is not Whitey Herzog. But i definitely would at least let loose Reyes, T Rivera, Kelly, deAza go and see if they can make havoc on the basepaths... ANYTHING!!!!
After this week's presser it's clear Terry deals the pressure. He has nothing to lose by letting the guys run. The Reyes steal in the 8th which led to the insurance runs was important. I think it shows Terry's going to be loosening the reigns.

Yanoa looked good again today. He's everything we were told Montaro was. He has good fastball control, it sits at 94. He's around the plate with his secondary pitches, has nice movement because of the weird sidearm action, and his change looks like a plus pitch. In the minors, he was averaging 1bb per 9. It looks like his stuff translates to the majors. I was hoping we wouldn't use Gsellman this year and it looks like we won't have to.

We're all going to have to stomach the next atrocious outing that Niese will put together. The bright side is that it should be his first and last. I wouldn't keep him on the 40 man, but Sandy will despite how poorly he pitches.

I'd like to keep Jose at short and platoon Flores and Cabrera at third. Wilmer, on the season, is batting .354 with a 1.096 ops. against lefties. He needs to play. Hopefully, TC actually follows the metrics and begins to put his players in a position to win.

Yes I respect the Rays organization for what they have done. But others here will say that they are better than the Cardinals, Giants combined simply because theyre in the AL East.
The AL East is as mediocre a division as the rest of the divisions in baseball. There was a time, I'd put the NL central ahead of the others but the Cards' injuries, Pitts ineffectiveness(wtf happened to McCutchen), and the Brewers' fire sale, have all lessened the strength of the division.

The new MLB is about parity. Thanks, in equal part, to revenue sharing, arbitration years, and drug testing. The days of the steroid teams or monster payroll dynasties are a thing of the past.

They lost one of the best executives in Andrew Friedman. They'll be back at the bottom of that division, if not all of baseball, soon enough.

I agree with most that you have said. You may have missed the message I was trying to convey about the thread hijackers here.

You'll have to point it out to me. Who exactly claimed that the Rays were better than the Cardinals or the Giants or the two of them combined ? Now you're just making stuff up.
Tampa is a weak team in a division with the Yankees and three of the better teams in baseball. Look it up. It's the friggin truth.
And please tell me again which New York team has the better record this season ?

That's funny. Keep trying. Nine is a pretty big number....especially when the next biggest is five.
You go just about anywhere in the world and the people will know about the New York Yankees. Ask them about the mets and they'll wonder if you are referring to that city in France.
Still haven't posted on the new Yankee thread? Even you know they are not worth talking about. Varsity my butt, lol. Why am I thinking you keep the scorebook for your HS team,JV of course.

Didn't bother to look it up, huh ?
I'll help you: Toronto .568, Baltimore .564, Boston .552
There is no other division in MLB that has a third place team as successful as the Bosux have been this season. And counting the Yankees the AL East has four of its five teams with a winning record. Would you like to point out another division that has anything close to 4/5ths of its teams with winning records ? And you know damn well that's the Yankees biggest problem with making the playoffs....they have a lot of games left with Boston, Baltimore, and Toronto. Not Atlanta and Philadelphia. Oh yeah...and Florida now without Stanton.
But answer my question as to which NY team has the better record this season.

Sorry about that. Lol.

I'm no longer able to see their posts so I have no idea, what vitriolic nonsense their spewing. It's actually quite liberating.

I assume none of them referenced my post from the day before, predicting Saverino being lit up light a Christmas tree today or their season being over by 9/1.

I wouldn't sweat it. They're probably NVA in a thread about their own team.

Stankees honored the greatest closer of all time yesterday and I think there might have been a bigger crowd at my son's softball game. Great job Yankee fans,I guess it's a what have you done for me lately kind of attitude, lol.

I'm not a Yankee fan, but I have to say the hot weather, combined with the other two weekend events overshadowed yesterday a little. I really think they should have waited and gave him his own day during a series without anything else going on. I know it was probably easier with all the guys from the 96 team in town to do it on the same weekend, but all of the other stuff diminished his ceremony a little.

I made the comment because KBEE mentioned Mets beating the Padres while the Yanks lost 4 out of 6 to the Rays.

Actually, we took two of three from the Rays....right after we took two of three from the Bosux....right after we took two of three from the Indians. Those last two are winning teams. When was the last time the mets won a series vs. a winning team ?

Uh...we can file that under the old "even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile."
Nobody pays any attention to your predictions. Everybody knows where you're coming from.

19 WS before free agents, wild cards and division play and only 8 teams per league. They have hardly been as OVERWHELMING a franchise as Yankee fans like to think when you consider all of that. I could even make an argument that playing in the biggest city in the country gave them, even back then a huge advantage over way smaller cities just happy to have been awarded a franchise. It was truly as Yankee fans like to say, the Varsity against the JV. They sure as hell should have dominated baseball back then.

mets fans are the equivalent of Temple fans.[/QUOT
Temple fans are smarter than PSU fans. Yankee fans such as yourself suffer from low self esteem which is why they feel they must post on threads for teams other than their own. I can try to help you with your self esteem issues. I am expensive but very good. The first step to getting help is admitting you have a problem.

KBEE you forgot that the Yanks were swept by the Rays right before they got rid of Miller. I guess maybe your memory is not to hot.

I haven't forgotten. It's baseball...stuff like that happens over the course of a season.
But I think that was the last time the Yankees lost a series. Hopefully the young guys have injected some energy into the team. Now if we can just take two of three from Toronto.....another pretty good team.
Who are the mets playing again ?

Of course it happens but the Mets did beat the padres and Rays took 4 out of 6.

The mets took two of three from the padres and the Yankees took two of three from the Rays. They also lost three straight to the Rays last month. What exactly is your point ?

Please please please move the triple A team out of Vegas and its high altitude hitters dream league. Conforto.369. Rivera .359. Kelly .350. Nimmo .333 d'naurd .333 Campbell .320 Plawecki.300. Can't judge these guys.

Bruce can go back to Cincinnati, Granderson can't reach second base from short center field and he absolutely sucks at the plate.

Hopefully the Mets finish up playing against the powerhouse D-Backs, they can't seem to crack that nut.

Nope. Check out their remaining schedule....and try not to laugh
They finish with 7 of the last 10 games vs. the Phillies.
And the series before those final 10 is vs. the Braves.
Oh yeah....the three of the 10 final games NOT vs. the Phillies are against the Stanton-less Marlins.
Another season where Christmas comes early for the mets.

BTW, which New York MLB team has the best record this season ?

Hmm, I think the varsity team has a better record now. :)

Isnt there a BRAND SPANKING NEW YANKEES THREAD that you two can slink over to and be proud of your team over there? We get it. Yankees got a better record this year. Don't have to be jackasses over this like you been at least last two years.

I'm not sure why Grandy in Center and Ty Kelly in left is a better outfield than Nimmo in Center and Conforto in left. Defensively there shouldn't even be a discussion. I don't even know what Kelly is doing in the majors and why Grandy can't backup in all three outfield positions. It feels like another of TC's decisions that favors the veteran.
Grandy has been in a slump over the last 200 at bats. In addition, he's batting .127 over the last three weeks. That's not a slump, it's a career trajectory when you're his age. Why play him everyday and continue to bat him in the top of the order, while jerking Flores and Travis all over the order?
I'd rather Sandy interject himself into player personnel decisions and the lineup construction, especially when it seems TC has essentially lost the clubhouse and has no consistent approach to judging players based on performance.

Agree that Grandy should ride the bench for a while. Nice guy and a great attitude, but he has been horrible at the plate this year. Also agree on and don't understand why Ty Kelly is in the lineup. Cespedes should be back on Friday.

Bruce showed his fielding liabilities last night. Boneheaded move letting Grandy field that one of the wall when Grandy has a noodle arm.

Nothing but the truth. You can't handle the truth.

I don't even watch when Granderson is up anymore. The most you can hope for is a solo home rum now and then. He either strikes out or rolls over a weak grounder into the shift. Why that constitutes batting second is beyond me. Tired of his hand grenades from the outfield too.
