After this week's presser it's clear Terry deals the pressure. He has nothing to lose by letting the guys run. The Reyes steal in the 8th which led to the insurance runs was important. I think it shows Terry's going to be loosening the reigns.I know TC is not Whitey Herzog. But i definitely would at least let loose Reyes, T Rivera, Kelly, deAza go and see if they can make havoc on the basepaths... ANYTHING!!!!
Yanoa looked good again today. He's everything we were told Montaro was. He has good fastball control, it sits at 94. He's around the plate with his secondary pitches, has nice movement because of the weird sidearm action, and his change looks like a plus pitch. In the minors, he was averaging 1bb per 9. It looks like his stuff translates to the majors. I was hoping we wouldn't use Gsellman this year and it looks like we won't have to.
We're all going to have to stomach the next atrocious outing that Niese will put together. The bright side is that it should be his first and last. I wouldn't keep him on the 40 man, but Sandy will despite how poorly he pitches.
I'd like to keep Jose at short and platoon Flores and Cabrera at third. Wilmer, on the season, is batting .354 with a 1.096 ops. against lefties. He needs to play. Hopefully, TC actually follows the metrics and begins to put his players in a position to win.
