That had to be one of the most obvious decommits ever right from the start (attempted to commit to UF, who apparently wouldn't accept, then ended up at cuse like 12 hours later? Sorry, does not compute.) I think the coach situation probably has truth to it but it also sounds like a bit of a cover for the fact that he realized he committed to go play football at cuse.

That program is still stuck in the 20th century. They were building this kid up as a program changer, citing a supposed Nick Saban quote where he claimed Washington is another Marshawn Lynch. Saying he'd be the next in their lineage of great backs.

While I believe we should walk softly and carry a big stick. Meaning not gloat etc etc. I find it pretty unreal how long it takes to change peoples perceptions. We have been out recruiting Syracuse for a decade.

Pressure builds at Syracuse as bad years pile up
The SU board is just comical right now. They have a 100+ page thread on what a game changer it was to land Washington and how he is their best recruit in decades. Then a few pages after the decommit on how he isn't that great and they are better off without him!
Love it. The reality is that the only elite recruits that will give them a look is those with serious baggage. The perception of that program is horrid to todays recruits...

The "livin the dream" part is amazing. And this guy is a dumb meathead. He talks too much about fighting his ass off, which means he hasn't quite figured out there are things like strategy involved. Looking a his record, his meathead approach isn't exactly effective. No wonder that kid decommited. Someone must have showed him that vid. It's likely why their recruiting blows.

Yes. And they pointed it out and were reveling in it when we had those decommits a few years back.

Their history came during a much different time in CFB. The challenges (poor location, few local recruits, bad weather, average facilities, average school, average budget, no fan base) they have to overcome to reach any level that they have in the past is near impossible.
At least they have the weakest of conferences in which to try and do it in, as unlikely as it is to happen.
