wow if true, but a FOX sports director in Little Rock is saying he "expects" Calipari to be the new Arkansas head coach....

Calipari staying 1 step ahead....Hogs may be foolish enough to throw everything at him...that said, they become relevant very quickly...

if true, and if you are Kentucky, do you make Hurley an offer he can't refuse...

what happens to Kentucky's #2 recruiting class?
Arkansas might have the #2 if they land Cal
But it will take a boat load of money to get him
His contract expires in 2029 and at $9 mil a year and probably a lot of extras
Arkansas will be paying through the nose to have him Coach there.
But Kentucky fans seem to ne getting tired of seeing pre-season hype
only to have the program fall short of their expectations .
Cal might just go for one last big payday and full control with the Hogs
feeling a little burnt out coaching Kentucky also Arkansas' biggest donor is tight with Calipari,

Fans at schools like Kentucky and Duke aren't happy just getting NCAA bids. They want national championships,What doesn't make sense is that Calipari will have to play Kentucky on their home court and receive all the fan derision. He should sit out a year and then taken a position in another league.Hurley isn't leaving for Kentucky because he can win more national championships at UConn.

UConn will probably go for a proven guy . A former UConn player and Calhoun protege that revitalized another northeast program from the dregs of college hoops to respectability . That guy coincidentally , also has 2 of the best recruits in the nation that he will bring to storrs with him .

Hurley's next move (3-5 years away imo) is either NBA or zillion-dollar deal from UCLA.

Kentucky needed a reset and Arkansas gets a coach after considering Chris Beard (Former Texas coach, now at Ole Miss) and Jerome Tang (former Baylor assistant and HC at Kansas State).

I can't imagine Nate Oats failing at Kentucky, it would be a perfect fit in terms of style and tempo.

If the buyout is too much for Oats (apparently 20M), would Richard Pitino be a fall back option further down on the list if they can't get Billy Donovan or another bigger name. Kentucky is intimidating for a lot of candidates, which likely includes a Hurley at UConn.....the Hurley antics and stuff plays well at smaller UConn.....UConn, for all of their success, is nowhere near the fishbowl or fanbase of a Kentucky. Hurley would get eaten alive by that fanbase.

Gee I think there's just a chance that Danny Hurley could figure out how to work with Kentucky fan base.

Arkansas doesn't have to pay a buyout and neither does Kentucky have to pay Cal the 30 mill he had coming. Arkansas has some serious NIL sugar daddies in Tyson(chicken), Walton(Walmart) and Jerry Jones(alum)

this will not work well for both schools in the long run
Here is why it WILL work: you could tell in Calipari’s press conference after their loss that he realizes the Kentucky model in today’s landscape doesnt work anymore - a team of 5 super freshmen one-and-dones will NOT win a national championship when teams with NIL are playing with 3-4 super seniors. He needs to build a senior team with NIL to win….

So, he goes to Arkansas, which few people know have the booster who is Cal’s good friend, the billionaire heir to Tyson Chicken empire. Cal is going to go get any player he wants, he’s gonna build through the portal and have Arkansas in the Final Four in a year or 2. He gets it

Anyone who says this won't work is just the usual malcontents. I believe you've got this right. He'll just use a huge war chest to buy players like the pros do and now he'll have no one questioning what he does for years . He won't have Kentucky people looking over his shoulder.

He was supposedly guaranteed a MASSIVE amount of NIL money, mostly from the Tyson chicken corporation
