MATCH THREAD: RU vs Illinois wrestling, 7pm, BTN Plus, @RAC

you can't. If you pay for a cable package that includes BTN you can login into btn2go.com, sign in through your cable provider and watch everything BTN broadcasts live or on replay. the only way to watch btnplus matches is to subscribe to btnplus, which costs $10-15/month
I've been doing the monthly subscription plan the last few years and it's worth every dollar. Usually start it up in November/December then cancel after the big ten tournament. Highly recommend it for those who have the disposable income.

@ScarletDave for some reason I don't have the option to "start" conversations so send me a note and I'll respond.
@AreYouNUTS I can't do it either, I'm pretty sure it's just for Premium members which I was but not anymore, and I thought you were one. If you can't do it then go on your twitter I sent you a tweet for a follow, then I can DM you on there

Had the opportunity to speak with an Illinois fan during intermission. An older gentleman wearing an Illinois pullover standing by himself so I asked how he was enjoying the match. He joked that he was one of 2 Illinois fans there. He had driven 900 miles and was following the team to Maryland afterwards. He was very impressed with the crowd and the team. Big time fan of Big Ten wrestling and he definitely thought we belonged.

RU had 2, 552 fans last night. Penn St had 2800. Not bad. I think other than Iowa and Penn St, Rutgers might become one of the biggest drawing Wrestling teams out there. !

Not to be a downer but Penn State's match was at Minnesota. PSU wrestling is sold out for the season at Rec Hall, capacity about 6,800 for wrestling. They had over 16,000 for a duel with Lehigh at the BJC in December.

But our attendance is in the top ten nationally.

LOL, that explains it. Was wondering why the lowish turnout. I watched some of it last night, and there were must have been a fair amount of PSU fans there for me not to notice it was a Minn location, was also watching some of the Iowa match too.

PSU at Iowa in a few weeks is going to be great. Iowa wrestles Ok St 5 days earlier, quite the back to back !

Right now this is all on the back of the coaches selling their vision. They have improved so much that all meets have been moved from "The Barn"(seats 500 that's the 1931 building) to the RAC drawing in around the 3,000 range for matches. Those are now selling points the coaches can use for recruiting, couple that with the new training facility, increased OOS scholarship funding(that's roughly an extra stud recruit a year) and top 4 in the B1G year in year out is not an unrealistic goal anymore.

The SK wrestling club is still in it's infancy and is beginning to bring in top flight coaches. Those guys do a tremendous job with starting that sucker from scratch and now with the partnership with Princeton and the backing of some huge donors it's about to explode. IMO the top 10 finishes are just the start as there are so many more structural and financial improvements yet to be accomplished.
Just one correction the College Ave Gym ( The Barn) has a capacity of 3,200.

Barn capacity may have been 3200 back in the day when we had lower level bleachers on all three sides. I believe capacity for wrestling now is in the 1400 neighborhood. The noise in the Barn for basketball was amazing. Paint actually would chip from the ceiling and piping and fall to the court. I never believed it until I saw it.
