Wrestling MATCH THREAD: Rutgers Wrestling vs. No. 2 Michigan

Massa really poured it on in the second half of the match. Seemed like he took it personal that Grello got that first score. He will come out with the major decision, defeating Joe Grello 13-5

Michigan leads Rutgers 22-4

John Poznanski making his collegiate debut against Joseph Walker. Walker and Poz wrestled in the same Super 32 bracket in 2019, where Poz was the runner-up, and Walker took 3rd

Poz with a takedown and dominant ride on top the remainder of the first period.

Poz starts the second period on bottom with a 2-0 lead

Please forgive my ignorance in the sport of wrestling at this level.
But how are we ranked so high without Suriano, and outside of Rivera and Janzer (if he wrestles) a bunch of 500 career wrestlers?
Poznanski is impressive as I type this

No score the rest of the way. Poz has a 3-0 lead, with RT almost locked up.

He will start the third period on top

Tournament ranking is different than dual match rankings

Suriano is still in the rankings for RU

with 2 NC, Rutgers would finish about 10 in tournament (See 2018)

Poz with a 7-1 win, and he looked great for a true freshman. The future is bright for this kid.

Michigan leading 22-7

I believe the ranking is with Suriano. No way they could know if he'd be here or not. Hell our coach doesn't even know what's going on.

Billy Janzer taking the mat at 197-lbs, taking on Michigan's Andrew Davison

There are maybe 15 decent teams in the country.

Scoreless first period for Janzer. He will start the second period on top

Would have loved to seen Janzer score in the first. He needs to open up and be able to score more to take that next step to the next level.

Scoreless second period, as well. However, Janzer racks up two minutes of riding time, as he remains on top the entire period.

Janzer will go on bottom to start the third period.

Janzer up and out for the first point of the bout. Riding time now locked up as well. Janzer follows up with a takedown, then cuts Davison loose to make the score 3-1, with a RT point coming

Anywhere to watch the exhibition matches that we’re doing after?

Gritty, tough win by Janzer but he is going to need to be able to score more moving forward.
I have a feeling it's going to take him a little while to get used to 197. Same as Pagano last year. I thought no way is Pagano going to be able to do this, then he got used to the weight and was off to the races.
