More on Enrollment decline

If you look on the same site it said RU no longer requires. LOL.

Just admit you were wrong...for like the upteenth time.

That or I'm sure the Univ of Tampa CE board is interesting.
Provide a link where RU Reports the % of students who submitted SAT’s and I’ll gladly say I was wrong.

He's desperate after every phony baloney story he tried in this thread went up in flames.

Maybe it would work at the University of Tampa though, heard it's super popular for NJ kids there

A smarter poster would have abandoned the thread after maybe the third time of stuffing his foot in his mouth and getting subsequently owned. Pretty much has made himself a punching bag since arriving in this thread.

Clearly he did not participate on Tampa community college's debate team.

As a college counselor - I can tell you it’s most likely in the 50-60% of applicants and admitted students submitting test scores both last year and this year. That’s the range of pretty much every university (except the very few that require scores).
As a result, test optional schools we’ve seen the score ranges of admitted students increase this year (because only those with very strong scores submit).
And here is the profile for last years HS seniors:https://admissions.rutgers.edu/sites/default/files/2021-09/2021 Admissions Profile.pdf

And I can confirm Tampa interest at my high school last year - but when they told students after May 1 that they didn’t have housing - it really tempered interest there this year.

That’s what I have been told too…submit if it’s worth it, a high(er) score that can help you get merit based aid as opposed to need based.

Rutgers contains the majority of its merit aid to those in the Honors College (at least for in-state students). For most students, this means an ultra high GPA, all (or almost all) AP courses and high scores (if submitted). Honestly, for my students that meet the first two markers and get into the HC - the score isn’t an issue and they’re unlikely to be test optional. They’re pretty much all 1500+ from our school and no reason not to send that (to Rutgers, anyway).

Washington Post

Colleges lost 465,000 students this fall. The continued erosion of enrollment is raising alarm.

No Rutgers specifics. I'd like to think we are not going to see a large impact relative to other smaller marginal schools?
The community colleges are really taking a hit it seems.
Newer Data? It seems the drop off at private colleges was significantly lower than at public colleges, and community colleges go crushed:

All institutional sectors experienced enrollment declines this spring, but their severity varied considerably.

  • Public community colleges and four-year institutions saw a combined drop of more than 604,000 students, or a 5% decline.
  • Community colleges were again hit the hardest, losing about 351,000 students, a 7.8% decrease over last spring. The total loss in community college enrollment since spring 2020 has now reached 827,000 students.
  • Public four-year college enrollment was down 3.4%.
  • Private four-year institutions saw their enrollment drop 1.7%.
  • Private for-profit colleges, the smallest higher ed sector, had a .2% decline.

"A lot of people" like the CE gang? Thanks for the reminder of that badge of honor. Wish there was a way to display it as badge.

Who said anything about red towns? Not I. I know the town you're referring to and there's a ton of RU people there. You'd have to take it up the clowns who tried to politicize the early pages of this thread...somehow you missed that...
Have no idea what you are even trying to say, and I see one of your lap dogs is providing you likes. Students, with the assistance of their parents, choose the school that is right for THEM, based on the programs offered, extracurriculars, cost, and other factors that have nothing to do with politics. You accuse others of politcizing this thread early on, and six pages later your bring up your drivel about triggering other and signaling allies? Seriously man, get a grip. Nobody does that.

I don't have to find evidence of things you make up.

We already proved what you said (again) to be baloney.

Why so angry about the Univ of Tampa? Maybe they have soccer threads you can lock by being a political troll?

Once again you have your emotions while people who do it for a living and are going through it agree with me. Shocker.

Where did he agree with you ...or even land on the same continent?

He said 50 to 60 percent submitted. You said, "Looking at schools SAT scores as an indicator right now is stupid. I bet 85% of Rutgers applicants don’t submit SAT’s. Only kids who do are the kids who crushed it looking for scholarship."

Far cry from 15 to 55.

If we forget about how numbers work and the words both of you actually used, I guess he agreed with you ...almost, kind of, but not really at all.

It’s not about one singular post. I said Most if the kids posting SAT’s are looking for scholarships. He agreed
I said Tampa was hot. He agreed
In fact, they ran out of housing
My comment about 85% was more tongue in cheek to the know it alls who really have no clue what they are talking about.

You work in college admissions for a living? LOL

Your claims have been debunked repeatedly. You claimed less kids want to go to RU because of a deranged political argument. Applications are up. Scores up. You're a proven, repeat dishonest troll.

For someone who claims to be so wealthy, you sure spend your time in bizarre ways, turning a soccer thread into a locked political one...but I get it, must be hard to find people who want to spend time with someone like that. Maybe at Univ of Tampa you'll find somebody.

Please go fight in a private message or the CE board. This is *boring*.

As one of the founding fathers of this particular Board I find it annoying too.

The problem is the CE board keeps dispatching members to politicize. Look at what he did to a soccer thread.

They also just keep trolling...RU had record applications even though he claimed it'd be down to politicize the thread...most people would just admit defeat and stop but he can't

Lol. No, I dont work in admissions the guidance counselor in this thread does.
And I didn’t say, nobody wants to go to Rutgers. I said more kids want to go south because they don’t want to deal with the BS Covid restrictions in the northeast. Brown coaches asked my daughter to go their camp this weekend. All campers need to be double vaccinated, boosted, and have a negative test for an outdoor camp. That is ludicrous. Not sure what my Wealth has to do with questioning where all the money is going in Ukraine. But nice try

Sure bro...RU has record applications, record SATs, but it's made up because 2 posters on a message board have anecdotes. Save it for the CE board.

Give you credit. You strive to Take stupid to a new level at every turn. It’s not anecdotal, the guy does it or a living. But sure, you know everything and are the smartest guy around. Just like when you said “boomers” were screwed because your generation would never move to the suburbs. All those old white men would be stuck with houses nobody wanted. Now you are all crying that you can’t afford houses. Lol. Just a clown, that’s all you are.

As someone that contributes more than my fair share to bringing topics and information to this particular board I have to agree this thread has really gone into a ditch.

Including this funny little tid bit.

LOL, I own my own house that I bought in my 20s so seems like your once again making up arguments because you can't win ones in reality. I certainly never said I can't afford a house. It's all about the suburbs though...as rents in Manhattan are higher than they were in 2019.

We have the numbers. You said applications were down. They're up. You said no one wants to come. Record size class. Record SAT.

You lost, again. But you're used to that.

When you're in the room, everyone else is smarter. Especially on this board. Your bid to CEify it failed like everything else you do.

You’ve always wanted your reality to be reality. It’s not. What I said was more kids want to go south because they want an actual college experience.
Yes, we know you have your condo it that shithole jersey city. Congrats
You have repeatedly complained about hoisting costs and Tuition. Well you diss before you ran away from the CE board because of all the beatings you took
Yes, people are leaving the city because of rent. Nothing to do with BLM, crime, and filth.

Meanwhile Manhattan rentals just hit $4,000 a month for the first time ever. Brooklyn and Queens rentals also at highs. Who's leaving?

Apparently lots of people. Have you read the real estate market thread on the football board? I have two employees in their late 20’s, both married, both couples make good salaries. They can’t find a house because everything is going for way over asking price. Lots of time with no contingencies.

The average home price in my neighborhood is higher than in Wayne lol. But I know you hate capitalism.

Never once complained about home prices. Yet another lie. But that's your whole shtick. You lost the argument so you had to bring up more.

With tuition, that was an earlier time when I dominated you (there are so, so many) when you falsely claimed McGill cost more than American colleges.

Why do I need the CE board? If I wanted to know what college dropouts, lifelong failures and paid political operatives think, there's free and more interesting sources.

Oh and yeah everyone is leaving the city that's why more people are moving into Manhattan than 2019

So now that we've again established that your clueless is it back to the CE board, the one place in the world where anyone cares what you think? Or just continue to lose here?

He had to change the argument after he falsely claimed people weren't applying to RU. So I guess there's a rolodex of Fox News talking points but once there's any questioning they go up in flames.

Oh for the love of god, stop giving this argument air. You're the only one replying to him. Go yell at each other over a couple of beers if you really must. At least then you'll be supporting the local economy.

LMAO

McGill international tuition $34,638 CAD = $26,825 USD

RU OOS tuition $33,005 USD

Done humiliating yourself?
I had hoped that as you got older you’d get a little smarter and start to learn that 30 second google searches give you simple incomplete answers. But you haven’t because you are content being simple. We will ignore the fact that you left out room and Board and had to rely on an exchange rate to almost make a point. But if you actually dug deeper you’d know that McGill doesn’t charge by the credit. It’s based on major. So unlike RU where the fees are pretty similar from major to major, that is anything but the case at McGill. Want a bachelors in
Engineering. That’s 58949 a year
Commerce? 66873 a year
Computer science? 58949 a year
Pre law? 58646
But you do you. You do simple.

LOL. Room and board when at both schools most people go off campus after freshman year?

Most people get a BA. That's cheaper there. Thanks for humiliating yourself yet again.

The dollar is only surging so the gap will get bigger and bigger, that's the best part.

Maybe the two guys above could rent a steel cage and have a match and donate the proceeds to the NIL collective.

Back on topic, this is an interesting read on the value of college:

"For example, total tuition for a standard three-year bachelor’s degree at the University of Amsterdam is $42,000 for non-European Union students. The school is ranked 55th in the world by QS and offers over 20 bachelor’s degrees taught in English. By comparison, a three-year bachelor’s costs $96,000 for international students at University College London, ranked fourth in the UK and eighth in the world by QS. At the University of Virginia or the University of Michigan, out-of-state tuition for four years totals over $210,000. Put differently, a single year at either of the two American schools costs more than an entire bachelor’s degree at the University of Amsterdam, and two years at the two American schools cost more than an entire bachelor’s degree at University College London. The American degrees take an extra year to complete."

Another good point:

"Meanwhile, America gutted its vocational training programs in the 1970s, and they have not recovered. This loss has contributed to turning a $4 billion US trade surplus in 1970 into an $860 billion trade deficit today. Vocational training is one of the great voids in American education. It most hurts disadvantaged populations, who have been stung by the worst effects of outsourcing and globalization. Many students who desperately want to work with their hands (often high “sensors” on the Myers–Briggs test and high in 3D spatial intelligence) go to college because they don’t know what else to do. They follow the herd toward a four-year degree, but somewhere inside they wonder “What am I paying for?”

I'd like to see more data supporting the lack of vocational training, as every NJ county (or most) has a vocational HS, but many parents don't enroll their kids because they may be ashamed or want to push kids to college that don't want to go. Every NJ regular HS (or most) also has electives like woodshop and other programs. There are also plenty of vocational schools and training opportunities after HS, but kids have to apply and enroll. Many don't.

I know for a fact that there was an auto mechanics and autobody vocational school adjacent to Wall High School that was replaced by the magnet "vocational" school Communications High School. AFAIK, I don't think Wall has wood and metal shop any more. I will check. One of the most valuable classes I took as a student was a year long course in small engine repair. We took a lawnmower engine apart completely, and then we rebuilt it. I went to undergrad for engineering. But I still use knowledge from that class as much or more than the honors classes I took.

Maybe it is different in other parts of the state or in more rural areas. Can't see kids of rich parents steering to jobs where they will get their hands dirty or have to work with tools.
