Name the top 3 realistic hires that would EXCITE YOU to be our next coach.

Don’t include names that are virtually impossible (Meyer, Saban, Gruden, Brian Kelly, other guys well entrenched at their schools, or NFL coaches like Belichick, Tomlin, Parcells, etc.)

Here are mine, in order:

1 Chip Kelly (pipe dream)
2 Mullen (probably not likely, but you never know)
3 Ash

Don’t list who you THINK we should hire, or who you THINK we will hire.
(We all have different opinions on that, and that is not what I’m asking about.)

Rather, list the top 3 guys that would *EXCITE YOU* if we hired them, and make you say, “YES!!! We got our guy! Now let’s do this and take Rutgers to the next level!!”

(If you say Golden or Schiano, that is fine, but please only list them if you really have a burning desire to see them on our sideline for the opener.)

Some may take this as another bash Golden thread, but I really just want to get a pulse of what hire would get the fan base all lathered up and ready to go.
And I think that should be part of the decision making process for Hobbs.

TIA

Schiano - loved him here
Ash- love to see what he can do as a HC
Rhule- great energy

1. Mullen
2. Kelly
3. Babers

But in terms of real excitement, I'm hoping there is a name out there that we haven't really been seriously considering like a Lincoln Riley, Rod Carey, Doc Holliday.

Are folks really excited about the possibility of Ash? I think he might be OK, but I don't see the dynamism, vision, passion that I think we need. Love to be wrong on that as he seems most likely at this point.

Chip Kelly- that would be insane
Mullen- that would be extremely competent
Lane Kiffin- that would be exciting (in a train wreck kinda way)

Chip Kelly - not happening - but can you imagine how crazy this fanbase would be if it ever did?

Bo Pellini - I would be excited just for the sheer entertainment value of the meltdowns by him, meltdowns by all the PC types on this board and the faux outrage by NJ media. Plus there would be a chance we win 8 or 9 games every year.

Schiano - there are definitely better coaching options out there IMO. But the whole returning home theme would definitely draw excitement.

Dan Mullen
Chip Kelly
Greg Schiano

Realize this is a pipe dream wish list, but what the hell, may as well dream.

1. Dino Babers
2. Dino Babers
3. Dino Babers

Has won the conference or division titles each over the last 4 years. Up and coming HC with huge upside potential. Would love being at Rutgers and competing in the B1G. An offensive minded HC. Can be employed for $1.5 to $2.5 million per over the next several years. A helluva recruiter and developer of talent.
Here is your man.

Ok. If not Mullen, I'm sold on Babers after watching the first half of this game. MAC-tion!

1. Lane Kiffin (recruiting specialist - decent coach)

2. Rich Rodriguz (great game day coach-decent recruiter)

3. Kyle Whittingham (great game day coach - good recruiter)

All three guys are exceptional and attainable.

Ok. Follow my reasoning please. At Bowling Green State University, you don't recruit 5 and 4 star players. They simply are not coming to your school. They are going to the ACC, B1G, SEC, or Big 12, etc.

At BGSU you sure are recruiting 2-3 stars and developing that level of talent to compete and win. THAT is not an easy proposition. You HAVE to be a good, solid coach to make that happen. Dino had done that EACH of the last 4 years and has won with those recruits.

Put him at a B1G school, that gets the 3-4 stars along with an occasional 5 star recruit; with a solid offensive background; with youthful vitality to counter that SOB at TTFP, now you have a winning combination. This is a good option that doesn't require $5,000,000.

Can't say anyone else really excites me.

Golden, Cristobal, Moglia would top my opposite of this list.
