NCAA Day 2 Thread

Interesting to stay the least…

Looking at some of the results, NC State has to really be hoping for Trent Hidlay to beat Aaron Brooks to salvage their tournament, because they have to be really disappointed so far. After qualifying all 10 they have the following results:

125: Jakob Camacho, seeded 7th, did not place (R16)
133: Kai Orine, seeded 3rd, finished 8th
141: Ryan Jack, seeded 4th, finished 7th
149: Jackson Arrington, seeded 3rd, DNP (R12)
157: Ed Scott, seeded 4th, DNP (R12)
165: Derek Fields, seeded 23rd, went 0-2
174: Alex Faison, seeded 29th, went 1-2
184: Dylan Fishback, seeded 10th, DNP (R12)
197: Trent Hidlay, seeded 2nd, in finals
285: Owen Trephan, seeded 8th, DNP (1-2)

They came in with 8 in the top 10 and 7 in the top 8 (2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 7, 8, 10) and will end up with 3 All Americans. 7 of their wrestlers finished below their seed with only 1 exceeding their seed unless Hidlay wins.

It was in response to Rocco Welsh IG story. He had a picture of a man holding up the head of a slain beast. That being said..Carter is one of a kind and the Welsh kid shouldn’t have put more fuel in the fire of a one legged Starocci.
Ah that puts more context as to why Carter randomly tweeted that lol… as a fan, I like the drama and it makes the match a little more interesting even though they are just putting on a show….

I know a lot of wrestling purist would say get that wwe crap out of here.. but we gotta stop being so hard headed and learn a little something from wwe/ufc bout promoting the sport or little drama to get fans more involved.. I kinda like that Rocco is willing to be playful with the slain beast pic haha

They always get overseeded every year…. The ncaa committee gotta stop rewarding weak ass schedules…

NC State should fire POP

Nah. Not a fan of that WWE or UFC nonsense. The more that creeps into college wrestling, the less I'll watch.

We already have one of the lowest viewership as a sport.. idk how this sport can grow..
That has more to do with the NCAA and coaches making the regular season irrelevant and the media making 100 different pay sites to watch matches. An 11 year and counting dynasty is also not helping with the allure. But you're right, it's a dying sport.

Now with those fvck ups set in stone. The only thing that will grow the sport is the continued growth of women's wrestling. Rutgers would be smart to get in on the ground floor, as NJ women's wrestling is the fastest growing in the nation. But in true Rutgers style they'll be late to the game and in continual catch-up mode.

Every Fix match takes 30 mins with his stalling and all the reviews and challenges... Then add the double blood time

All of these challenges are absolutely awful. Take all of the excitement out of the match and it’s becoming hard to watch.

Hope Fix loses out in the end though.

Fix wrestled terribly - he wrestled not to lose. Kudos to Vito. On the whole you can't have a match go that long though - too much nonsense.

Wrestling is about endurance and reaching down when you're dying at the end of the match. This was not a true wrestling match - way too many stoppages - ruined the flow.
