New Fields Being Built Behind College Ave Gym ?

So I bump into this guy wearing a Rutgers hat the other day and we start shooting the breeze about the upcoming football season,basketball,the NB campus,etc. He tells me he heard Rutgers is considering building artificial turf fields on some of the current parking lot behind the College Avenue Gym because of all the new students living on the College Ave campus. Anybody read/hear anything about this ?

Don't know, but it should be done. That's hallowed ground and far too valuable to be a parking lot.

I thought they were building some sort of memorial to the 1869 game where the gym annex is right now. They're going to tear down the annex and build on the parking lot behind the gym to expand the college ave gym and turn it into the modern fitness center Rutgers deserves. I haven't heard anything about turf fields.

Wait,are you saying the College Avenue Gym is not a modern fitness center ?

If the long-range master plan ever comes to fruition, the College Avenue Gym will be the anchor of a new campus mall stretching to the river. It's going to be focal point. I'm all for anything that makes that facility more useful -- and more used -- by students, as long as it includes a very impressive memorial to November 1869.

I've heard nothing about it, and it's probably not going to happen unless a deck is built next to Stonier.
