**NEW STADIUM RULES THIS WEEKEND**

Over the years noticed that the water fountain near section 127 was covered up (I imagine to force folks to use concessions). Am a big water drinker - especially after tailgating - and found it frustrating and offensive.

I shy away from malls. May need to shy away from places in NYC now.

I like this new policy. I don't want to shy way from stadiums.

The government doesn't want to keep me safe, so I need to keep me safe. So I stay home.

No excuse for not having enough water fountains to reasonably accommodate all. Not having any on the upper deck and having any one out of service for more than one game is not reasonable.

Please refrain from using the term Dr. other than for those who actually are trained and educated in the medical field...that nominclature has been overused and abused for too long...she's a teacher and nothing more...
MD/DOs have been the ones abusing the name. They should be called physicians. docēre or " to teach" is the root of the word doctor. Almost every other country doesn't refer to medical doctors as doctor (much of which has to do with the fact that most other countries train doctors as a bachelor's degree). I didn't spend 5 years of my post-bachelors degree life studying so an MD or DO can tell me I can't use the title everyone in academia with the degree is addressed by.

I do too. I called the Athletics Department and was told I will be able to bring in bottled liquids. They are going to get back to me with specific instructions.

For those that don't have medical conditions please don't screw this up for those of us who do by making unnecessary requests. Thanks.

Update: RU is accommodating those who need to bring in liquids and are making it very easy to do. But they don't want to publicize it because they don't want others abusing the privilege. If you need to bring in water or some other liquids call the Athletics Department and they'll tell you what you need to do.

I'm fine with the new policy but it would be nice if they took care of this.

Is thirst a medical condition? How about dehydration? If I get fall down drunk tonight can I bring in water tomorrow ?

There are ways to make a liter of clear liquid that would be able to take out at least a few dozen people in a crowd. Just think Breaking Bad. That's why I was surprised to find out they let people bring in unopened bottles a few weeks ago.
And what prevents said nerd from taking that bottle & shoving it up his ass as he walks through security, instead of holding it out for the cops to inspect?

If this was about safety, they'd ban bags.

You guys are funny the country is finally figuring out the college sporting events are very soft targets with little security and if someone wanted to do some damage it could be done easily

"soft targets" funny you should use that phrase. I received an email today from the NJ Department of Homeland Security advising me of a workshop they are holding in October. From the email:

This training program will enhance the capabilities of security personnel responsible for protecting specific areas of infrastructure by providing behavior assessment screening training that fills the gap in the patron screening at “soft targets” such as mass transit, non-secure public areas of airports, sporting events, shopping malls, theme parks, and many government facilities. The combination of high patron volume in areas with no screening makes such places ideal targets for a terrorist attack. The one day S.A.V.E. program provides security personnel with a behavior assessment technique that will build on current security measures in the layered defense concept. Participants will have a better understanding of the threats to their sector and their role in identifying/reporting suspicious behavior.

I am not surprised by this and have been waiting on it for some time. We're near ground zero and getting into Rutgers Stadium with something would have been a no-brainer. Frankly it will still be easy. If somebody wants to do something there are just so many ways.

Now should RU have handled it better? of course but this is Rutgers .
Would 90%of you be screaming know-it-all I told you so's if something did happen? of course you would.
Should there be better more reasonable water options. Yup.

Not to necessarily discount the serious security situation in the tri-state area, but I have yet to see someone successfully incorporate any sort of devices into see-through, factory-sealed bottles of drinking water.

Way to insult the intelligence of your customers, Rutgers. Security, really ? Why not just say "we got 'em for four hours and we're going to shake 'em down for as much dough as we possibly can." . That would be honest.

Ugh!!!!
They have that crap they call the Alma Mater at the link

Exactly!

Rutgers privatized stadium concessions to Sodexo. Sodexo is disappointed with the low attendance and low concession sales at the stadium last year and this. Need to increase revenue to come close to revenue targets. Ban beverages at the gate. Make 'em buy it from Sodexo. Use "security" as the justification, because nobody can argue against being secure. Get closer to hitting revenue targets. Keep the company's board happy.

The free board never ceases to amaze me when it comes to complaining and making a fuss.

Didn't you mean to say: "...train PHYSICIANS as a bachelor's degree" LOL....you'd be correct about that, I know because my wife is one from overseas.
How is the 'senior' Dr. Nosker doing with his research on plastic structural bridges?

I have been to Michigan, PSU and Nebraska and am heading to tOSU as far as B1G stadiums go, have also been to Arkansas. All have a no bag policy and no outside beverages allowed.
I guess women have to wear their Kotex as a head wrap.

The elderly can loop their depends around each other and wear them as scarves.

This seems like a pretty standard stadium policy that we are just catching up on.
Wonder if Maxi Pad ear warmers will catch on

If Sodexo offered better food they would increase their sale. Have I mentioned the Falafel Bowl is really terrible.

We need to keep a close eye on people with this sort of knowledge.
Just kidding.

Adding more water fountains is the answer? Sure, let's spread that hand, foot & mouth disease that's running rampant around NJ to 50,000+ people. No thanks. How about they run a competent concessions operation.
Wonder what the lead count is at the water fountains?

Every bus, train, mall, store, high school game, little league game, park, beach, lake, crowd, etc is a 'soft target', How much liberty and Freedom do we have to forfeit for overall safety?

Did the terrorists win ? Starting to seem that way.

Wouldn't be surprises to see metal detectors soon or the wands. I'm cool with that.

I'm waiting for them to graduate up to the full body orifice search. I know some people on here will be excited with that.

I'm trying decide which group of guys is the best:

The guys that never miss an opportunity to yak about how much money they make, what luxury cars they're choosing between, etc. and then whine about having to pay a few extra bucks for water ... like they would at any event, ever, since around the time of the Roman Empire.

-OR-

The guys that lambast the students for being entitled crybabies, then show up here and cry because water is too expensive and RU is screwing them.

I'm going with the latter because most of them will be out enjoying tailgating ahead of the game, which is a) the very reason that students are being viewed as entitled crybabies and b) where they could be drinking gallons of water, enough to get them through a doubleheader if needed ... but they won't because they'll be too busy drinking alcohol .. you know, like they say the students shouldn't care about doing because they should only be concerned with supporting their peers and team. FTFW.

Not sure you actually read the posts here.
In the multiple threads on the topic the posters here have been overwhelmingly with the students. Posters are against any sort of boycott, but nearly all would like the student tailgating lot thing to work out. Most posts have been about details of how that could be done.

Also I don't think you could correlate the talk about luxury cars and wealth with the same specific posters who are complaining about high water prices. There are many people of varying incomes, backgrounds, etc. on these boards. All opinions expressed are not the same person's.
