**NEW STADIUM RULES THIS WEEKEND**

Not sure you actually read the posts here.
In the multiple threads on the topic the posters here have been overwhelmingly with the students. Posters are against any sort of boycott, but nearly all would like the student tailgating lot thing to work out. Most posts have been about details of how that could be done.

Also I don't think you could correlate the talk about luxury cars and wealth with the same specific posters who are complaining about high water prices. There are many people of varying incomes, backgrounds, etc. on these boards. All opinions expressed are not the same person's.

I did indeed read the posts. There are many calling students out for being entitled. I can quote them if you like?

I could 100 percent identify several specific posters in this thread who have done some wealth flaunting in the past, but they know who they are. Suffice it to say, as someone else did, if you can afford game tickets/parking pass/fuel to the stadium/a tailgate spread/pre/post-game beers at an overpriced bar, then you can afford an expectedly marked-up bottle of water. Or you can plan ahead and drink lots of water before you go into the stadium. Or you can grab water at a fountain or sink. This really isn't a big deal.

It might be different if RU was breaking new ground with this rule, but it's basically aligning itself with every other venue and event out there, so ... this is the epitome of adults carrying on like spoiled tweens.

Except:
Mets games
Jets games
Giants games
Yankees games
Red Bulls games
NYCFC games
Phillies games
Stony Brook football
And maybe others all allow water bottles

MSG and Pru Center are the only major sports venues I know of within 100 miles that don't allow sealed water bottles. But their events don't last 4 hours in the hot sun.

Is Stony Brook playing tomorrow? Maybe you could go there instead?

Let's see what is next. Oh, no Italian Ice before the opening kick-off to ensure there are no delays getting to your seat. Could possibly make sense.

This thread has taught me to be wary of Wealth Flaunters, another source of evil on this board. Ha !

How so?

On hot days, I typically buy at least four $4.00 bottles of water (the upstairs water has been $4 so presumably it's smaller than what they are selling downstairs). So say I'm really thirsty and have five bottles a game. It's $20 freaking dollars. Not exactly lifestyles of the rich and famous.

Or did you mean something else. :)

It's $4 for a bottle of water? That's what everyone's complaining about? I thought it was $6 or $7+ the way people are carrying on.

$4 isn't much more than what you'd pay at the airport, where, incidentally, they also ban you from bringing your own water. Maybe that's a steal at $3.50.

Gotta respect a Dune reference. I believe that was Sean Young BTW.
Correct...one of my 2 or 3 favorite books ever...

I read about 15 of them. Finally gave up a couple of published books ago. Some day I'll read them all again.

I stopped after finishing the 6 Herbert books - never tried out the rest - maybe someday. Will also likely re-read at least the original ones someday, since I read most of them as a teenager.

Read them a couple times as a teenager. His son's books really aren't bad. They've gotten some bad reviews but while they are a bit easier to read I found them enjoyable.

All Hail Shai Hulud!

I too busy to go through that nonsense. Michigan gives free cups of water at concessions. RU should do the same, or reduce the bottled water to $2. I am not going to die, but I am supposed to consume water throughout the day. I'll down a bunch during the pre-game, and get one bottle from concessions and nurse it.
Simple, bring a bottle cap, buy a bottle of water and refill that bottle at a water fountain.

and is a retired Fire Chief

Amazing isn't it?

I was thinking about this driving home from work just now. I mentioned this to someone who's a retired fire chief and worked at Met Life. His reaction was "I'm surprised they hadn't done this a long time ago".

I'm wondering if any of the conspiracy theorists out there considered the possibility the State Police or even Homeland Security recommended this after what happened last weekend. That could be why it took a while to be announced.

I think they sell larger water bottles downstairs, which are $6. But they also seem like they'd hold more than 50% more water. The upstairs water bottles, at $4.00 each, are what you'd typically see sold by the case at the food store. Considering you can sometimes get a case for around $5.00, it's a pretty good deal for somebody involved.

Just looked it up. She was indeed in Dune. And Blade Runner, which is probably in my top five favorite movies of all time. I would never have guessed the Blade Runner woman was the same actor as the Chani woman.

I read 'em all too, more than once since I am blessed with a terrible memory so rereading books is a thing for me. And I agree that the son's books were pretty good.

She was also in a movie I really liked, "No Way Out". Supposed to be a real strange ranger if you believe the Hollywood tabloids back in the day.

I have been to Michigan, PSU and Nebraska and am heading to tOSU as far as B1G stadiums go, have also been to Arkansas. All have a no bag policy and no outside beverages allowed.

Yeah, but I paid far less than $6 for a water at Nebraska .

Loved the Dune books, was so psyched for the Dune movie and then - thud! What a dud. Kyle McLachlan as Paul was completely miscast and the plotting was plodding and the dialogue was wooden. Director David Lynch essentially disavowed his role in the film, saying he was not given artistic control.

Blade Runner, on the other hand, was brilliant, especially the director's cut. Ford, Hauer, Young, et al were all terrific. Also liked Young a lot in No Way Out - she was way out there on the hot/crazy scale, though. Just ask James Woods, who was a bit of a nut himself.

Stop it. Went to the Cowboys home opener a couple of weeks ago, spent $75 to park a mile from the stadium. Spent 30 minutes in security line to get in. Dropped I think $12 a beer. Had a great time. Didn't whine about parking, lines, cost of beverages, out of town scores, wifi signals, etc.

Yeah so what. What's your annual donation and Priority Points with the Cowboys ?

optimum w/ sports package... all problems solved

no annoying kids/crotchety old farts
food you like
booze you like
no waiting to piss
can smoke
no sitting in traffic
no putting wear and tear on ur car or burning gas
what's not to like?

Didn't you mean to say: "...train PHYSICIANS as a bachelor's degree" LOL....you'd be correct about that, I know because my wife is one from overseas.
How is the 'senior' Dr. Nosker doing with his research on plastic structural bridges?
Indeed. Thanks for catching that. He's doing well, doing lots of neat stuff with graphene now. AFAIK the bridges are sort of on hold while licensing stuff is going on, but there's a ton of interest in his graphene based composites.

He did a great job in the profile they show all the time on BTN.

If I lived in the area i would be at the Rutgers games. No matter what water cost. I guess I would like to see more people appreciate the fact that Rutgers is in the B1G and not complain about what seems like EVERYTHING.

Had a full-sized sunscreen bottle in my bag. Security said it had to be airport-sized. Put it in my cargo pants and went to another line.

This would suggest this is truly a security issue and not a sinister plot by the profit starved.
