OT: 2020 Champions League

Why then do you watch college football, when the quality of play in the NFL is far superior?
There are innovations in college fb that make it exciting... offensive schemes, OT format, as well as the tradition and fanbases. MLS does not have any of those things.

MLS used to have a unique OT format, and the purists bitched about it until they gave it up.

MLS does have the tradition and fanbases. Some stronger than others, but it's that way in CFB as well.

Agree about the offensive schemes... but how innovative are the big European clubs? They dominate because of talent.

Footy is definitely personal dependent, but the good managers definitely figure out how to maximize their talent. Pep has his set plays, klopp uses the press to trigger the offense, sheffield had the overlapping center backs, barca has....messi. bayern is just efficient, always has been, regardless of its players. Ajax has its total football concept. Rm run everything thru kroos, modric, and benzema now.

How many guys in all these leagues have had to miss time because of the Rona?

Doesn’t seem like many. All the recognizable names were on the pitch for this match. During the EPL restart saw most of the regulars.

I wonder if they are testing them as much as we are testing our athletes

yes, they are. if not more. been several reports of positive tests each week. during the height of lockdown in the UK, most players took it seriously, the ones who didn't were shamed publicly and some were likely fined by the clubs. some teams imposed their own bubbles once the leagues started up again.

Bayern annihilates Barca, 8-2. Messi a non-factor. Life without Xavi Hernandez and/or Andres Inesta isn’t that easy.

Setien was the wrong choice and was a dumb call by the board. You either fire Valverde last summer or have him coach the year out.

That said - the roster is the biggest failure. Semedo is trash. Suarez can’t be an every week starter. The roster needs major work and they do not have the money (right now) to do it.

City looks like trash. Lineup is too defensive and the gameplan looks too complicated and stagnant

Was just about to post that Pep looks a little panicked on the sidelines. Then Man City tie it up, 1-1.

Strong chatter that former Tottenham coach Pochettino will be named the new Barcelona head coach. I recall several years ago him saying he would never coach Barca, guess the money was right.

City up with that 1 away goal. Hit 1 or 2 more to be comfortable for the game in Manchester.

?

This is single knockout round, loser is gone.
See, the 2020 CL has been confusing. I thought last round was knockout until I was told it was home and home. Though this round was home and home until you just told me its knockout.

City better get its act together

And it's at City instead of away...

Yeah. I'm paying attention, :Surprised:

It’s over, Sterling missed a sitter wide open net from 5 yards out. Hit it clear over the net.

Lyon comes down and scores. 3-1

Well at least you don’t have to watch City torn apart by Bayern. They look like a machine so far.

Pep needs to spend more money.

Losing Aguero hurt them and have no idea why David Silva didnt play until the 84th minute, esp knowing hes done at City I guess as of now.

Apparently, now that Espanyol has been relegated, he might consider the Barca job?

Probably will never happen but Let's Go Lyon!!!!! Would like to see someone different win the CL for once.
