In the "old" days that was a catch. Nowadays they would say he did not complete the process.
The State is basically now broken up into North Jersey and South Jersey with the half the schools put in the North and half in the South. Because there are more schools geographically in the North the cut off line is skewed to the North. And within each half, the schools are seeded 1-16. Those 16 are broken into two sections per based on power rankings regardless of geography with one section getting the number 1 and number 4 power ranked teams and the other section getting the 2nd and 3rd ranked teams. The rest of the brackets are filled out snaking in the rest of the seeds. Because the Southern region is so big you could have a North Brunswick team( considered geographically south) playing a team from Cape May County in the first round. It could actually be more severe with a team like Deleware Valley playing a team from Cape May County in any of the first 4 rounds.I hate to ask what's probably a stupid question but will anyway. How is the Haddonfield - Rumson Fair Haven game considered a South Jersey Group 2 sectional game? Seems to me RFH is north of central jersey or is geography out the window when it comes to hs football playoffs? I'll admit I've not paid much attention to NJ hs football in a long time. TIA
Thanks. That's more complicated than I would have guessed but I never gave much thought to the high school densities of the different areas of the state and how they would handle that for playoffs. The State is basically now broken up into North Jersey and South Jersey with the half the schools put in the North and half in the South. The state has been trying to balance out the number of teams in each section. In past years you had Shabazz, Weequahic, Lincoln, Roselle, Hillside in either Central or South Jersey.I hate to ask what's probably a stupid question but will anyway. Bernards,I think, is considered Central JerseyAre there no actual central Jersey teams in the semi-finals this year ?
Bernards,I think, is considered Central Jersey
Bernards I guess i missed.RBC in Group B,
Donovan Catholic in Group A
Tom’s River North in Central Group 5
I could be wrong but I swear he stated after last season this would be his last. Shortly after Augie parted ways with Rutgers so the alarms went off. I don't think Augie ever really wanted to leave SJR but Greg was persistent.
Augie still lives up that way so who knows. Not sure how long he is signed for at Columbia.I could be wrong but I swear he stated after last season this would be his last. Those three schools are definitely not North or South Jersey. I figured it’s Central since they’re in the middle.Bernards I guess i missed.
I grew up in central Jersey. Those other three are not central Jersey.
BTW, friggin bummer that I saw that the once legendary South River program didn't even win a game this season.
Would be interesting if Hoffman goes back to Joes.Augie still lives up that way so who knows. Not sure how long he is signed for at Columbia.
I think it would be very popular if he does. His kids are getting closer to high school and I am sure he would want them to attend SJR as well.Would be interesting if Hoffman goes back to Joes.

Central Jersey is a step or 2 below South and North Jersey these days in football.Bernards I guess i missed.

State Semis should be at RU Stadium for the South/Central Jersey matchups and MetLife for North Jersey 1/2. I like that the State Champ Game is at Rutgers for the Publics at least.
That's the one potential issue. Princeton could be used as well but I don't think they'd agree to host NJ HS football games.SHI might present a scheduling problem if Rutgers has a home game that weekend. Met Life has been used in the past.
Not to my knowledge. He was my sons freshman football coach in 2009 and took over the varsity in 2014 season.Didn't he coach lacrosse there too?

Or at least have 5 games each at a neutral field for North and South like they did last year. Could have it at Kean or Montclair in the North and Rowan or Monmouth for the South finalsThat's the one potential issue. Princeton could be used as well but I don't think they'd agree to host NJ HS football games.
Was in attendance tonight as West Essex is my alma mater. What a wild wild wild entertaining game. INSANE final 3 minutes.
Shabazz couldn’t stop the Mountain Lakes Waggle. Ends kept chasing the FB while QB keeps and runs for 30 almost every time. The Wing T will do that to you if your memorized by it.@tico brown HOW!?!??? Mountain lakes isnt even that good this year
The wing t is so easy to stop, so so easy to stop. I say this as someone who was a qb in the wing t.Shabazz couldn’t stop the Mountain Lakes Waggle. Ends kept chasing the FB while QB keeps and runs for 30 almost every time. The Wing T will do that to you if your memorized by it.
Mountain Lakes is one of those programs that will always be playing in December and have those tough lax kids playing ground and pound in the wing t. Not surprised at all.
At least first year coach Naz Oliver got Shabazz out of that 4 year rut and the future looks pretty good over there.
Have you sent film of your qb play to hcgs? Could have a new qb next season. Go wessex go knights! The wing t is so easy to stop, so so easy to stop. I say this as someone who was a qb in the wing t.
We lit up scoreboards vs teams. We lost 4 games in my 3 years of ball, went 32-4. But allllll teams have to do is play an eagle front and dent the last surface in each side and it’s toast. Any team that did that to us had success and we were a top 10 ranked team in NJ amongst public and non public
Who will RFH play in the group 2 finals and do they no a time, location and date yet?
They lost to Caldwell in group 2 finals last year at Rutgers.
