Great win today !

2 up with 7 to go !

Who are the 3 pitchers we re facing in Atlanta? I’m sure Sale and Fried.

Lindor not playing tomorrow.

Earliest is Tuesday for Lindor to possibly play for which I am still unfortunately skeptical he ll be able to go.

Not surprised this thread would be quieter when it is up against Rutgers football. I didn't even think of the Mets until the middle of the 2nd half today.

Next two games are TOUGH matchups going against Wheeler and Sale. The pressure is on, even with a two game edge. It would be great if the Marlins could steal another one against the Braves tomorrow.

Was at game with three Phillies fans: my sister, my niece, and her husband. Playoff atmosphere for sure.

So, we are assured of being no worse than +1 going into the Braves series. However, because of the tiebreaker, the difference between +1 and +2 is huge. If we're only +1, and go 1-2 against Atlanta, we relinquish control of our destiny going into the final weekend. If we're +2 and go 1-2, we don't.

If we can somehow beat Philly with Wheeler tomorrow, it would be very, very helpful!

I was watching both closely, but limited my Mets posts until after the game out of respect for the forum we’re on.

Oh crap. Game on ESPN tonight. Can't stand their announcing team, especially the guy with the Bert from Ernie and Bert voice. Will probably just listen to the radio.

Might have to sit JD the rest of the year

0-32 💩💩.

He will play because Braves are throwing sale and Freid

Not a complaint but a question. Does Diaz ever look back the runner or even think about him?

Bring on the guy with the long hair. Forget his name. Diaz crumbling.

OK, I was wrong. I'll shut up now, after a question.

If Mets take 2 from Braves (getting ahead of myself), even if the Mets lose all 3 against Brewers, they are in over the Braves, correct?

I’ve aged about 20 years in the past few days. Lol.

And for those who wanted to settle for a split …..🤷‍♂️ 😂.

Don’t think so. Mets magic number is now 5.

If they take 2 in Atlanta - Mets magic number would be 1 heading into Milwaukee.

Oh wait. May be wrong. We d have tiebreaker over Atlanta i believe come to think of it.

With the 2022 expansion of the postseason field from 10 teams to 12 teams, tiebreaker games will no longer be used to resolve ties in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season. That means no more “Game 163.”
Instead, ties will be broken by math, with specific outcomes from the regular season determining final standing or seeding. This change was made so that the postseason can begin promptly after the conclusion of the regular season and that division winners with a bye during the Wild Card Series round will not be forced to sit idle longer than is fair or necessary.

You are forgetting the tiebreaker.

If Mets take the series, they take the tiebreaker. Up 3 with 3 to go. Over and out.

If Mets take just 1, then they are 1 up, but the Braves would then have the tiebreaker. Mets would still be in the driver's seat, but with no margin for error.

If Mets get swept again, no bueno. I include this merely for the sake of completeness.

I would add that Plan B is still in play, as the Mets are tied with the D-Backs and own the tiebreaker. Mets currently in the #2 wild card slot.

Yep. Thanks.

3 out of 4 against Phillies. Just no way to be upset tonight.
And since being 11 under 500, do we still have the best record in baseball since then?
We make the playoffs and our team is super dangerous. Starting pitching(who would have thought) timely hitting.

What are the chances of a closer protecting a one run lead, while giving up FIVE stolen bases in two innings?

Not a recommended long term strategy for success, but tonight it worked out.

It does help when you can k hitters and when the actual base at 3b during the attempted steal went our way. 😂
