Nimmo with the Jake Taylor impression to drive in a run.
Seemed the Dodgers 2B never touched the base either?

Whelp. Butto back down to earth. Dodgers are just a better team all around. Our bullpen weakness very exposed after sneaking buy for the second half of season.

All these guys besides Vientos are encroaching assumed out at this point. Hopefully he hits another, before we have to go through this lineup again.

Mets will soon have to make a decision on whether to pick up Maton's $7.5M option. I think the decision just got easier.

Why is Bader playing?
Because he was 3 for 3 against Yamomoto when we faced him in the regular season. I get it. But a lot of guys on the team did things previously that they're unable to do in this series. I can't even be mad at this point. Just not good enough to beat them. They're main guys have obviously outperformed the ones who are supposed to be our main guys. But outside of that so have their supporting players. Remember this is the same team that came into Citi in May and swept us leading to the much talked about team meeting that preceded our turnaround. Time for the who stays who goes discussion soon.

Can’t wait to never see Phil Maton ever again.

Mets need a big crooked number right here

OMG magic officially worn off. How many bases loaded at bats this series? How many K’s
Well not all of them. There was the double play he hit into last night. Winker should have hit for him or JD. But I guess they shot their shot there with bases loaded no out. And again it was another airball. 😔

Went to X to see an update, nothing from the Mets- did they go into hiding. However, I follow this account, and after checking the score, this seemed like an appropriate summary of the series so far.

As teams go deeper in the playoffs, weaknesses become more and more of a liability. With the Mets we see that in their hitting. The Mets hitters are all in a slump save Vientos and Lindor. They also have poor plate discipline and too often swing at pitches out of the strike zone. This allows the Dodger pitchers to take chances throwing pitches out of the strike zone in crucial at bats. The Dodgers on the other hand have really good plate discipline and rarely swing at pitches out of the strike zone. This puts pressure on Mets pitchers to throw strikes and gives the Dodgers a better chance to capitalize on every scoring opportunity. We have seen that play out thus far in this series... Mets have come away from bases loaded with less than 2 outs on multiple occasions without scoring runs and the Dodgers seemingly have scored every time they had runner in scoring position. Mets bullpen has also been exposed.

My guess is that if the Dodgers will win this series, but their lack of starting pitching depth will be exposed against the Yankees.

There is no way in hell the Mets will win this series now.

It was a great run for the Mets and I thank them for it.

Let’s hope that they do well in the offseason with so much money coming off the books.

This is a very excellent and thorough summation. Getting to and winning the World Series is always the goal, but considering the weaknesses the Mets have, they did well to advance two rounds to the NLCS.

Saw this headline in the Asbury Park Press this morning, and the reaction was- hey thanks Captain Obvious!

NY Mets have no choice but to fight through pain of facing NLCS elimination by Dodgers

Can't agree with first sentence.

I have been following sports long enough to know that any sentence that begins with "There is no way in hell that..." just ain't true. Ever. No matter what the rest of the sentence is.

Which is why we love sports.

Totally agree. There are two types of Mets (and Rutgers) fans:

You gotta Believe!

You gotta Bereave

Believing is a lot more fun, and Don't Stop bELievin'!!!!!

I nearly spit out my coffee with the newspaper headline posted above.

Peterson will start tonight. Senga will be available in relief.

Do not like. Senga has never pitched in relief before. Whole different warmup routine.

HOWEVER, I am not so delusional to believe that I know more about the Mets, or about baseball in general, than Carlos Mendoza.

There is no finite in sports, just ask read option. 😁

It may be too little too late, but I am glad the manager is going with a lefty lineup tonight.

I know 1988 was a long time ago, but I had it in my head that we would steal this series the way they stole it from us. I'll settle for not allowing them to celebrate on our home field.

Just win tonight

Bullpen game and Buehler 4/5 and bullpen for games 6&7

Captions obvious ……have to score first and keep crowd into it. Maybe a hit or two with men on base !

That’s why I prefer Taylor. He worked the pitcher, didn’t swing at balls, took the walk
