OT: 2024 NY Mets Season Thread

Seems like Parada my not be a total throw away yet. Has picked it up some.

And whenever I see the Mauricio injury- I wonder if we ever would have discovered the next Met's home grown star in Vientos without that injury.

looking forward to a mature Alvarez, Vientos and Mauricio in the lineup, Lindor, and hopefully with an extended Alonso and a future additional big hitter (Soto?). And who knows maybe Baty figures things out too. Then again there's also Clifford and Gilbert that might be future power bats for us.

The major leagues are tough, and even the best guys can struggle. He's playing well enough in Syracuse that it wouldn't be shocking to see him come back up and play well.

Matt Gage optioned to Syracuse to make room for Brazoban. Gage is in jeopardy of becoming a Phantom Met - one who spent time on the roster, but never appeared in a game. There are about a dozen of those guys in Met history.

Figured I haven't done one in a while. This is updated with all the trades that were completed so prospects removed and added. FCL season is over so scrubbed them off if any in the HM section. Added Ritter to HM even though he's older as he's having a nice season with the bat. I thought we might see him at some point but looking unlikely.

I believe there will be another update to re-rank and also include the 2024 draftees so expect this to change again soon.

Thanks for doing this, I love it. One request for the next time you do. Could you stick the players that were traded underneath where the ranking was before the trade?

Seems that every time of late that they have the chance to really put the hammer down they come up short. Either get a crap pitching performance or they come out swinging at air like they did against that Braves rookie over the weekend. But one thing for sure is that since his arrival Vientos has been about the one consistent hitter. Average has not fallen below the 280-290 range. With power.

Do you want their stats for their new teams or just as a reference?

Just a reference where they ranked
Hmm I forget already haha. Morris was added after the Thomas trade so he was only ranked for a few days. They were all back end 20-30 range though. I think Lara was 22, Morris 25, Thomas 30 or something like that.

Thanks, that is what I seemed to read in the news.

And today it's been both, Crap pitching and swinging plastic whiffle ball bats with only 3 of the 9 in the lineup having a hit in the game. Truth be told they didn't do much on offense last night either. Just got outstanding pitching.

Could not even trade them. Could not even give Adcock away. Sad
Somebody will likely sign Houser, since it will be on the Mets' dime. It is not surprising that he could not be traded, since the acquiring team would be responsible for his salary. Better to let the Mets release him and then sign him for the minimum.

Adcock is the sad case. Unlike the veteran Houser, the Mets could have outrighted him to Syracuse. They didn't even have a AAA roster spot for him.

Nice starts from Tong, and Suarez last night. Tong will most likely be a top 10 in our re-rank or right outside.

A couple tidbits on Pete LaCock. Just some useless stuff that floats around in my brain.
1. His dad is Peter Marshall from Hollywood Squares
2. Hit a grand slam off Bob Gibson in the last inning Gibson threw in his career.
Good stuff. I knew #1, but not #2. If you're going to face Bob Gibson, that's probably a good time in his career to do it.

I knew #1, but didn't know about two. Also remember him as a Royal and Cub.
