I’m sure this will get sidetracked for one reason or another…

Just hope people will be able to just post NJ HS FB News here.

Camden Catholic HS Coach resigns after going 9-2 in 2024. Camden Catholic is now looking for their 6th head coach in 10 years.

And if you look at the head coach’s Twitter page, he is reposted most of his former players HUDL links as they’re “looking for a new home.”

Also down in Ocean City, Winslow may be a good, rising program. But this may be a case of biting off more than they can chew as they somehow play IMG at The Battle At The Beach…

Another big time program that Winslow will play this season is Bergen Catholic…

COACH AT ST THOMAS AQUINAS FIRED…

Interesting news down in Central Jersey as one minute the St Thomas HS coaches were getting for the 2025 season. The next minute, the whole staff was fired.

This one was quite a shock. Coach Holman and staff were building a special program in the area - they had good connections with the youth programs in the area and ran some great camps in the Summer. Before this happened, they did lose Donald Jones from their staff who became the head coach for Plainfield.

Opening up the 2025 season down in Ocean City HS, NJ’s best will be playing Illinois’ best at The Battle At The Beach…

Wow. Didn’t realize East St Louis was #1 in Illinois. Very rough city. When I used to travel on business to St Louis, the locals said it was the murder/crime capital of the US. Hopefully the football program gets those kids out of there.

Good job to BC for getting the game scheduled. Will be interesting to see how good the talent is there.

It’s been happening at the Catholic schools more and more last few years like at Donavon Catholic, Hudson Catholic. Same thing at Camden Catholic last week where there’s changes at the first sign of improvement or success.

Holman is a good guy. Can't necessarilly say the same thing about the other coach involved. From what I am hearing. When Turco left to take over at Piscataway it left Jerry Smith in a lurch and he appointed Whitehurst (AAU) guy to take over. WHitehurst tried to poach players from other schools got caught. This lead to Whitehurst being paced on probation by the NJSIAA, 8 game suspension but it also lead to the entire school and their programs being placed on notice any future violations can lead to serious implications. Rumor is Whitehurst continued his ways and Holman was also lumped into the allegations. Heads had to roll and a mess is ready to unfold at Aquuinas.

What did he do in his past?
Can’t find anything online about him?

Just asking.
It was nothing bad. During his recruitment cycle I recall him spurning RU for the freshly-Sanduskied penn state, because he wanted to play for a big-time program. Of course he ends up being the guy who scored the winning TD against us in 2014 with about a minute remaining in the game.

He hired two former Rutgers players to his staff:

Considered one of the top rising coaches in the region, Belton is a former four-star recruit and running back at Penn State. In Lambert and Nash, he is adding more Big Ten experience to his staff.

Nash, who played defensive end and tight end at Rutgers, joins to become the program’s defensive coordinator. As for Lambert, a former four-star recruit, he will be Winslow’s new linebackers coach.

“Quanzell and Myles are two people that I have a lot of respect for,” Belton told Rutgers Wire this week.
“They will be great coaches for this program, they’ve accomplished a lot on the field. Ultimately, these are guys that our kids can look up to and want to be like. I’m extremely excited to begin working with these two.”

Damm shame. Coaches keep trying to push it even with multiple eyes on them and they got caught. Can’t feel sorry for them if that’s the case. Just the kids who were looking for better opportunities to play and get noticed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Forgot about that.

Damm it’s 10 years already.

This would explain them getting an extremely better schedule. And they already have Auggie, Millville, Mainland, Camden, Cherokee, on their schedule.

I don't follow HS football much (hardly at all), but I sometimes wonder if South Jersey football is nearly as good (or perhaps better) than the vaunted North Jersey football? Some excellent players have come out of South Jersey. I have no dog in the fight, I live in Shore Conference territory, pretty much a vast wasteland that once in a while produces players that make it to the next level and to the pros.

Real shame. It's not like the northern parochials where most are single gender. So you can somewhat get away with it. Because 1)everyone is doing it. And 2)it is single gender and there is little overlap between football/basketball/soccer etc...when it comes to dominance. From what I am hearing here. This opened up every coach in multiple sports and both genders to additional scrutiny. And coaches of rival schools jumped on. Opened up tampering cases with multiple athletes in multiple sports and both genders. Attention the principal and the diocese don't want. Especially with many of the athletes involved not coming from within the diocese.

its kind of cool too that they get to go to OC. I'm sure some of those kids have never seen the ocean, let alone a boardwalk.

Shore conference is anything but a vast wasteland. Shore is some of the most competitive football/basketball etc...in the state. The issue with Shore is most of the programs are group2-3-4 not the super group5 and parochial base. But Manasquan RFH Wall can compete and do with anyone in the state year in year out.

Was not thinking basketball. And perhaps at the high school level the teams can compete. Manasquan/Wall are two programs in my backyard, literally. Also lived in Rumson for a while, and they had some very solid teams. Other than Tim Wright, can't think of a Manasquan/Wall player who earned a scholarship to play football at P5 level (there was a walk on OL from Wall that was on Rutgers roster under Ash but he transferred out). Rumson had Elijah McAllister, who played at Vanderbilt and finished at Auburn.

Red Bank Catholic has had some players go P5. Not throwing shade at the Shore Conference, and I should not have used "vast wasteland." That's worse than throwing shade.

Yea most of the talent out of the Shore conference go the Ivy, Patriot, FCS, Military Academy route. So there is less individual talent at the P5 level. And many of the shore athletes are multi sport. Middletown South of old churned out many P5 level guys, as you mentioned RBC puts many in D1. The issue with the Shore conference is no real consistentParochial presence outside of RBC. To highlight the talent. Mater Dei in their 5 year run placed many in D1. Donovan picked up some talent after Mater Dei but they have been poached by the Northern Parochials as have many of the kids that would have gone to publics and the Vianney's, RBC's of the world. Look at the rosters from Bergen, St.Peters Prep, Bosco and the others. Many are from towns way outside of their normal sending districts including Monmouth and Ocean County.

If CBA or a pseudo prep school like Ranney would ever have football and Vianney and RBC fully commited like the northern parochials, Monmouth and Ocean county talent would not be headed north.

Camden Catholic has been a revolving door lately. Fell apart after being a dominant South Jersey program back in the 2010s.

Winslow is gonna end up being forced to move up to Group 5 at this rate. They're basically playing a South Jersey Group 5 schedule as is apparently. Wonder if they'll get Kingsway on the slate at some point.

They didn’t exactly have a killer schedule. Maybe a little more higher than the SEC Ivy League level. But 9-1 is 9-1 and they looked like they had a good future. And it looked like the head coach was doing a pretty good job there.

One red flag (for either against the coaches/players or against the admin) is that the former HC is reposting the kids HUDL highlights with the LOOKING FOR NEW HOMES on Twitter, as it they’re looking to leave the program. So who know wtf happened there.

Might happen if the new “move up a level or 2” rules mentioned here, nj com, and northjersey com, along with some of the 1s and 2s moving up to 2-4.

I definitely think RBC is heading in the right direction as they are scheduling tougher opponents outside of the Shore Conference. They set up a feeder program with the elementary school that is next to their campus, St. James. In their first year, their 14U program won the D-1 Pop Warner Super Bowl last month. If they can keep a good percentage of those kids who are coming from multiple towns in the area, that will be added future success for them.

NICE!

Don Bosco will be on the road to play Melissa HS in Texas this summer. They’re one of those Texas HSs with the D1 type home stadium…

Bobby Acosta just resigned as HC at St John Vianney due to "personal circumstances." He was a hot name on these boards 7 or 8 years ago.

Statement from the school does not wish him well:

“Saint John Vianney High School is focused on moving forward for the benefit of its student-athletes and community,’’ the school said in the statement. “Our foremost priority remains the spiritual, academic, and social development of our students and student-athletes. This sudden announcement was unexpected and we will begin the search for a new head coach immediately."

down in Ocean County Jackson Liberty and Jackson Memorial High Schools will combine and just be 1 High School starting in September.
Jackson Memorial has been a power house in Wrestling and Football over the years and some very good baseball teams as well. From what I've heard, the Memorial building is in bad shape and some of that can be used for Freshman. Dual enrollment will be used with the newer Liberty HS taking on 10th11th and 12th grade. Very similar to what Old Bridge HS did in combining Cedar Ridge HS with Madison Central HS.
