I am self-employed so always working , but it is very limited the week between Christmas and New Years . Wife works for a school district so she's off .
I really think most places should shut down and give employees off this week.

I'm off from Day Job but not from Night/Weekend Job (work 12/26-12/27, 12/29 and 1/1, though at least 1/1 is OT pay)...like I always say though, I don't complain on payday.

Off (vacation days) but my first int'l trip of 16 starts on 1/3-1/8

Rutgers does the same as Newell's employer, except that I think the staff worked a half-day on the 24th. I have a clear conscience because I got my grading done before school closed. I have learned that the best thing to do with grading is to get it the hell over with.

Yes, off. I work for a British company, so always off from Christmas Day to early January. Most Euro companies do this.

I always take Christmas week and New Years week off.

Everyone from my company is pretty much taking all their remaining PTO days this week and most of last so pretty much on base support.

I work in finance so no we are working. Got out early Christmas eve but will work normal hours this week other then Friday and will probably be there last on Thursday. Just the nature of the job.

With so many people off, the RAC should be packed for the Wednesday afternoon game vs. Indiana.

Office is closed NYE and NYD--about 90% of the office took time off the 3 other days this week. I'd rather work this week when there's not much going on and save the time off for the summer for more 3-4 day weekends

Tomorrow is Monday. It is not a holiday. I didn't take vacation time. I don't work for a school or a company that just closes down for a week (what happens at @MrsScrew 's surgery center if someone needs surgery).

So yes, I'm working.

I'm sort of always working. But, officially, I typically take the last few weeks off every year to relax and recharge. It's nice to not have to deal with any meetings.

We have off (company holidays) on Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's day. I took vacation for Monday through Wednesday to get a nice long break. With the kids out of school anyway, it's nice to have some extra family time. Lots of people took off last Mon to Wed too but I did not. It was a ghost town on Wednesday Dec 23.

My plant gives us off from Christmas eve to Jan 2nd paid, every year and we don't
use our vacation time or sick days.

Nope. I work most every (week)day. Payroll. Audits. Weekly/monthly/year production reports. Budgeting. Learning our new SAP system. Now, mind you, I can probably leave any day early when my work gets done, and I'm working at home all day today to get ahead for Monday.

Working this week. 90% of the company is not. Best week to "work" all year. Get caught up on paperwork, and stuff I never get to when running 1,000 mph.

Office is closed NYE & NYD. Operations still running 23 hours per day every day (holiday rush extends through mid-January due to returns). I wish I could take the week off.

So yes, I'm working.

it's a Surgery Center...so everything is elective. no emergencies. What happens is people wait until the new year or they had it done earlier this year or they have it in the hospital.

Working Monday and Tuesdat. That's if Winter Storm Goliath lets us. 8 to 12 inches forecast for Monday in Omaha. Uuuugh. Son, wife and Grandkids scheduled to fly in from MD on Tuesday.

Where I work so many people take this week off that a few years ago they took away our 4 floating holidays and now shut down for the week. So basically everyone is off from Dec 24 until Jan 4

I was planning to take off from 12/18 through 1/4, but then work got in the way. Project I'm working on is the most important across the Company and I'm responsible for our areas's contribution to it, so my whole team (about 20 of us) was working 12-16 hour days, 6-7 days a week, for the past few months. We finished just on time on 12/18, but then had some extra stuff that was due on 12/22, so I worked parts of those days - needless to say the team was happy to be done. This also means I'm carrying over about 6 vacation days into next year.

Good, then you should have plenty of free time to come cut my grass.

Normal work week for me at a local ice rink. We have a big youth hockey tournament on New Year's Day, so I'll either be in at 7am that day, or there until 7 or 8pm cleaning up after all the slobs. I'm using a vacation day on New Year's Eve though, and since New Year's Day is a holiday, I get an extra vacation day to use next year.

6 carryover, plus 31 vacation days per year is 37 next year. I could almost just work 4 days a week, given the 8 holidays we get off. Plenty of time to cut your grass. If you had any grass, lol.

Work for one of the larger banks who owns a large brokerage firm. Work all week.
