Not a gambler by any means, but I have always been intrigued by the season win total over/under in baseball. Any idea of where to safely bet something like this? Also, since I am a rookie in this area, how much do you win if you correctly predict an over/under win total for a team?

A moneyline is listed for each choice. If it is -115, that means you have to bet $115 to win $100. You put down $115, and if you win, you get back a total of $215. If it is +105, that means if you put down $100, you get back $205 total.

For a season over/under, the money lines will both be negative (unless they have multiple over/under settings). That is basically the casino's take on the bet.

I made money on the Mets Over 82.5 last year and the Cubs over 80.5. I lost money on the Yankees Under 82 last year.

I'll probably pick a couple of teams this year and do the same... I'll wait until closer to opening day for injury news, etc. I enjoy it, it gives me a rooting interest in games ordinarily I wouldn't care about, like Cubs vs Brewers in August.

Heading to Vegas tonight and plan on making a few of these bets during my stay!

Good luck.
Can you bet something like this online safely? For instance, what if I bet $50 on something like that? How much would I win?

As far as picking the teams, check the teams who were 10 or more games under .500 in one run games the previous season. Many teams have made huge improvements the following year.

The problem with 5 Dimes and similar sites is that if you win too much or too consistently, your bets will be limited $1.Why doesn't Congress allow Las Vegas to take bets online from everywhere?Maybe they want legs broken.
