OT: Cignetti signs long-term contract with Indiana….

Cignetti was making 677k LAST year. When you add in Allen's payout Indiana does not appear to be profitable. I'm assuming this is how they are using B1G media payout increases but you could fund a department and cure a form of cancer with that kind of budget. Is there a children's hospital you can wave at from the stadium, and the kids can wave back at all the money?

Pretty sure these are RU1000 talking points.

Money isn’t fungible. Just because Rutgers gets near $100m annually for athletics doesn’t mean that money is automatically available for cancer elimination.

I was referring more to spending 8M on one marginally tested coach at a non powerhouse state U then the whole budget. The highest paid person at the Cancer Institute of NJ makes 176K, so you could hire 45 of these guys for the same amount. Just food for thought. IU has not finished a season in the top 25 more than 3 times in the past 55 years, and I don't think paying through the nose for a coach buys a seat at the table.

Mark Cuban probably wrote the check for the new contract.
It's possible he's paying for some of it but I wouldn't assume he's funding the whole thing or even a majority of it. Anything is possible.

MSU's 2 billionaires who donate a bunch to the school didn't fund the majority of Tucker's 95M contract. It was 24M of the 95M and still a hefty sum but not the full ride. Of course, that's all moot now but that's what it was at the time.
