just got here yesterday after staying more towards santa teresa area. so far this place blows and the weather isn't helping.

what is there to do in this area???

thanks in advance

Move to Ipanema (there's a pretty cool girl there, but she is probably in here 70's by now)

You're actively in Brazil and asking what to do on a football message board.

First thing to do: Log off Internet.

Then, take your SIM card out and eat it.

Burn your phone.

Now ... and only after previous steps, find someone in real, physical life - you know like everyone around you who fkn lives in Brazil - and ask them.

When you get back, read, reread and reread another time "Life for Dummies."

Go to Impanema. I have a group of buddies who spent NY's in Copa, once, then switched to Impanema and have gone back each of the last 15 years or so. Copa is for tourists. Impanema is for fun (or so I've heard...).

- Christ statue

- Take a cable car to Sugar Loaf

- Do a favela tour- google it, it is safe and very informative

- Go to border of Copa and Ipanema for sunset...watch the sun go down on the little mountain

- Lapa is big for nightlife...go to Scenarium....Copa and Ipanema have bars just have to ask around

- Free walking tour in Rio....goes to the Escalera Selearao

- Beer or capirinha on the beach during the day....the grilled cheese on a stick is amazing

- Rodizio...sushi is amazing there (biggest Japanese community outside Japan is Brazil)

Off the top of my head
