OT: Electric vehicles

I just roll up to any 93 octane gas pump, hand 'em my credit card and wince a little. Seems a lot simpler.

Actually, NM is never mind. Still much to learn 😀.
I'm on a winning streak today. First the guy with no pork roll in Los Angeles. Debunked that. Then the phase out for Ford. Now, NVM:

Abbreviations of 'Never Mind'

Closing the spelling of compounds is a common linguistic phenomenon, and so is dropping vowels and inconsequential consonants in abbreviations when texting. In social media, never mind is abbreviated NVM (also NM) or lowercase nvm (nm) and is usually used to tersely say "Disregard my last comment."

100% correct. With time, all these people jumping on the EV bandwagon will be jumping off like when a team wins a championship and misses the playoffs the next year.

Take your L and GTFO…..😀

Just to be clear, high speed DC fast charging on a Tesla supercharger is only available for Teslas in N America. No adapters exist in N America for non Teslas for high speed charging.

Non Teslas can use Tesla destination chargers (level 2) with the proper adapter. Level 2 chargers are basically like charging at your house.

This may help

Thanks. I’m only considering it for emergency use. I’m only doing the level 1 at home. Was planning to wait until F150 comes to get that home charger with the home intelligence back. Max I’ll go per day is 25 miles but most will be under 5. There is a Wawa like 2 miles away vs Electrified America 15 miles away.

The door handles are stupid but in general I really like the styling. Take off the badge and it could pass for a Lamborghini.
I agree about the door handles and I like the styling as well.

But it really doesn't look much like a Lamborghini, IMO. To my eye, Lambos tend towards more angular and chiseled styling that flirts with being excessively macho. Whereas the Caddy is smoother and going for more of a subtle classy appearance.

North Carolina is really trying hard to barrel its way into the full-moron club with the likes of FL and TX.
Perhaps I misread, but it seems it's not NC so much as one guy that's running for office.

Says he's an incoming legislator and Bill already introduced, though.

Progressing quickly 😄

Yeah, but lots of dumb stuff is introduced that way in most states. If we're gonna judge whole states, we should at least only judge them on what actually passes.

I saw, elsewhere, people judging NJ over some recent legislation that imposes strict limitations on NJ breweries with the intent, it seems, to protect the high value of NJ liquor licenses (breweries apparently don't need liquor licenses to serve alcohol, or something like that). I can understand the intent of the legislation. I understand that it's actually more complicated than it appears. But it sure does come across as mind-bogglingly restrictive and lame and is all too easy to attack.

Yes, I would hope this is one of those “see? I tried my best with a big tantrum bill, folks…now vote for me soon, oil fans, and you, corporate fossil fuel donors, help me stay in office with nifty commercials costing big $”.
I HOPE a wasted $50k is still considered stupid by most legislators.

I don’t even like trees. Weird that you continue to go into a thread you have interest in (get a life).
Offended are you? It seems to me that we all need to get a life because so many of us spend time here. P.S. You better learn how to like trees, without them you can't breath. P.S.S. Read what you posted about me coming into this thread. LOL

I’m interested in EV technology and potentially buying an EV in the near future. Not here to troll and call people tree huggers, which is beyond cringy.

Anti-EV people are so out of touch, they think people are buying EVs because they're tree-hugging hippies. For me, and I'd say probably for the vast majority of people, it's about saving a fortune on gas. Gasoline is now my biggest expense and I can't wait to eliminate it completely. The lack of routine maintenance is a big bonus. The instant acceleration that only high performance ICE vehicles can match is another bonus. If it's better for the environment, then that's an additional bonus, but it's a few notches down the list.

How are you saving any money if in the future you still have to pay thousands for a new battery? And when you brought the environment into it, you showed that you are a tree-hugger.

I’ve really begun to enjoy your nonsense-spewing visits, unknowingly embarrassing yourself each time. You’re right up there now with ass-ho-can. Cheers.

How many times does this need to be debunked in this thread for you? The batteries last longer than most people keep their cars, and on an ICE you would have to pay thousands to have an engine or transmission replaced on top of the thousands you would have already spent over the years on maintenance and repairs.

I also don't understand why you think caring about the environment is bad. Whether or not EVs actually are good for the environment is another debate I'm not too well-versed in, but your stance isn't that they don't benefit the environment, your stance apparently is that caring about the environment is shameful for some reason. Also, the reason I even mentioned the environment was to try to explain to you that it isn't the reason people are buying EVs, but I guess that was too intricate of a post for you to comprehend.

He's not listening. Just winding you ppl up and laughing at you all.

As the article basically says, I wouldn’t single out Tesla for having the most autopilot crashes since they have lots more miles travelled than the other manufacturers. But these crashes just reinforce, for me, the stupidity of relying on software to operate cars absent V2V and V2I.

I hate the idea that there are cars out there on the road with me are using these semi automated systems. I hope states start banning it.
