If they collect micro-transactions on transfers or payments, or any other type of fee it would be a form of monetization in the most traditional sense

We keep hearing this, and it makes for nice clickbait, but it makes no sense once you actually think about it. . Is Tesla going to reduce production because Elon bought Twitter? Of course not.
 
I agree with Belly here.

Elon's probably pulling people off the FSD team, where everybody knows they're wasting their time, and moving them to Twitter where their skills can be put to good use. Won't have any impact on FSD, which is dead in the water until V2X, and the employees will be happier working on something not doomed to failure pre-V2X.

A win-win situation.

Seems my half-joking speculation was correct and that most of the Tesla to Twitter transferees are, in fact, from the FSD team. 🤣

How much did you pay in miscellaneous charges from the dealer? I'm being quoted a weirdly large sum of money.


Did not realize there is 0.4% luxury tax on my Lightning.
Also, no First Responder or Military discount on a Lightning, which blows.

I just checked and I didn’t pay the .4% luxury tax. D&D was $1,795 and doc fee $599, I did pay $2,500 over MSRP to buy it off the lot.

Title $60
4 year registration $509 (I get some of that back because re-using my previous pickup truck plates)

TOTAL: $1488

They may have hit you with window etch for $299, which I asked them to remove, and they agreed.

They gave me a figure that was about $1500 higher than $1488 on the phone. Will figure it out tomorrow.

Got it all straightened out. It was kind of weird in a way, but resolved. They tried to slide in window etching, and they agreed to give me $300 refund after they put it on my charge sheet. I hate that nonsense.

The truck rocks. Scary fast. Drives great. Love the features and the large touch screen.

Big bonus right here--don't have to worry about this:

 
Saw an extended and raised roof commercial van doing about 100mph and lane weaving through heavy traffic on the GSP earlier today. That‘s some nutty irresponsible driving.
 
Extrication involving EVs is a major pain in the ass, as I'm sure you know. Remember, it's still a truck.
The spreaders and the cutters (aka the Jaws of Life) are now battery powered. Heavy AF, and the first purchase point when popping a door is usually high on door. Good times.
 
If you don't know what EV sales trends have been, why are you posting your ignorance?

My ignorance? That article states there was a decade of exponential growth. The chart shows nothing of the sort. There may be a small time frame around 2020 which fits an exponential growth curve...

That chart is a joke - mixes hybrids and BEV's to support the ICE agenda - Electric cars are on an exponential increase - and Tesla is the clear leader - 5 years ahead of the comp - deal with it .

i’ve been getting 2.2 to 2.4 kw/mile driving around town. This morning, with 41F, I only got 1.5 kw/mile 😟
How long did it take Sunrun to send you the charging station? Idid not get the e-mail from Sunrun to confirm my address, but I found a link in the Lightning forums to confirm my address, which I did on Tuesday. The completed link said I would receive a shipping notification. Sunrun's chat online was totally useless.

I didn’t get the extended range (wasn’t an option) and only have the standard charger. I put my info in on Sunrun’s website because I want to get a quote for HIS as a whole house backup. It has been 2 weeks and no one got back to. I’m moving forward with the manual transfer switch and use the power onboard to run up to 30 amps. Much cheaper and it’s really all I need for now.

I hope that's not your efficiency.
I think you mean watt-hour/mile (Wh), not kilowatt-hour/mile (kWh). A kWh is greater by a factor of 1,000 vs a Wh.
And a lower Wh/mile is more efficient, so your morning drive was more efficient than your average.

Since @jtung230 brought up efficiency, it's helpful, especially in the winter, to preheat your cabin and/or put your seat heaters prior to your drive. This warms up the battery and improves the efficiency of your drive. A preheated battery will also help to maximize regen.

Does Ford have a phone app that links to the vehicle so this could be done remotely?

Wondering, however, my Lightning is in a garage. Do I need to "warm it up?" One great thing is you can start the car in the garage and not fill the house with carbon monoxide, unless that is what you really want to do. The number of things about EVs that are great multiplies by the day. Brother Skinny may reconsider his position. In the catalytic converter theft thread, I noted that we EV drivers don't have these problems. Go electric and problem averted. However, if your goal is to kill yourself or others in your household by running the car in the closed garage, stick with ICE vehicles. Unless your Smikowski in Office Space.

I park in my garage also. If it's cold enough where I'm going to use the cabin heat and/or seat heaters, I'll preheat.....as long as I remember. Is your garage heated? Probably not necessary to preheat then. Mine isn't.

My garage is not heated. Once we get the solar panel, we will install electric radiant heat floors maybe.
Thanks. Swamped with work and would love to drive it some more.

It reads 2.2 mi/kwh. Think that makes sense. Battery pack is 98 kwh = 215 mile range

Come to think of it, if he was to do such a thing, it would certainly be a newsworthy story. "First Concert Performance Powered By An EV". DO IT!!!!

Interesting.

Fact is, you need very little power to drive a 4 piece band. Even if the guitars are using 100 watt tube amps, the consumption is still under 200 watts. Figure the same for the PA. Another 5-10 watts per guitar for a pedal board. Bear in mind, that's with everything turned all the way up, which nobody is going to do. That truck would drive a gig for a long, long time.
