OT: Electric vehicles

“I was so tired of the unwanted attention and the males gawking at me I proceeded to create barriers around me just so I could get some relief,” Brooks told The Washington Post. “That was something I felt necessary just so I can do my job.”
Come on now... would love to know who these troglodytes are who wolf-whistle. Imported foreign IT workers by any chance?

Not sure I see what the issue is. If a male (or female) co-worker looks at her because she is pretty.. then they should be fired?

Don't hire the pretty in the first place?

No need for this in this thread please. Keep it to EVs and Musk bashing.

Typical of Lexus and Toyota in general. Come up with concept cars that won't hit production for 6-10 years, by which time the style will be sorely outdated. Need to show what's coming out in the next 3-5 years... not what's potentially coming in 2030. They build rock solid cars and will be able to compete in the EV space, but damn... the legend of the LFA and all of its applications will fade and people will only think about how they are behind everyone else in terms of design.

Absolutely no problem with this. Banks pay taxes on the interest of these loans. Private business arrangement.
I suspect if you look closer at the arrangement you would feel different, taking into account that he does not receive a cash salary or bonus so the only way for Musk to pay taxes personally is to sell stock. This is all by design. On top of that, you aren’t considering the massive deductions Tesla can take as a company in connection with what is viewed by almost anyone other than the ultra-rich as a tax avoidance scam, albeit totally legal. This falls in the carried interest tax nonsense category. But, if that’s all good with you, to each their own…

It’s unfortunate that altruism and benevolence is lost on so many to the point that billionaire tax dodgers are commended in this day and age. I guess we can thank capitalism and corruption.
1. The only good tax is a dodged tax (or cut tax)
2. The gov will just waste additional tax money anyway

If everyone followed those two principles we would be a third world country. I got the impression you have kids that would like to reap the benefits of this great country and contribute to society. Although, I agree that there is plenty of waste that should be fixed, but that’s where the corruption rears it’s ugly head.

A great country is not created by the government. Never has been, never will be.

Sounds like you’re probably better suited for El Salvador. You could score a gig in Bukele’s future Bitcoin City working at the Conchagua volcano geothermal BTC mining operation.

A “great country” comes down to great people. There is a HUGE difference between tax planning and purposeful tax avoidance.

MYLR order holder here (August order, Jan EDD). I haven't even got my MY and I'm already utterly sick of Tesla as a company. If I could get an R1S within 6 months, I'd change my order overnight. Tesla offer no customer service and treat you like you're being privileged by being allowed to buy a $60K car from them. And many recent August order deliveries on the Teslamotorsclub forum have had major build issues. I'm not even confident that I'll be able to accept my car when it does arrive. In a year, Tesla will be competing against the Ioniq 5; ramped Mach E production; Rivian R1T and R1S; US built ID4s; the Cheaper Lucid Air models; the Kia EV 6; F150 Lightning; and more. Furthermore, with the Biden Fastcharger funding, the Tesla charging network won't offer as much of as reason to deal with all of Tesla's shit. My prediction is that in 12-24 months Tesla shares will be worth about half what they are now, and Musk will likely have been removed. Offering shitty customer, service, shitty builds, shitty repair options might not cripple you when you're the only game in town, but that's all changing.

The concept of good government is to protect the interests of the larger population from the percentage of the population that, invariably, prove to be assholes.

Mirrors are useful in this situation.
Yes, good government is a "concept". I agree.

Back when they had built up a core of devout brand cultists, Apple went through a similar period of treating customers like they should feel honored to be allowed to purchase and use Apple products. Like Apple, Tesla will evolve as the competition heats up, the hype dries up, and reality sets in.

Hopefully your car turns out alright. The good news is that, if you wind up accepting it and then ultimately not liking it, you ought to be able to resell it pretty easily and with little or no financial loss in 2022, assuming used car inventories remain low in 2022, which it seems they will.

Best of luck with it.

The less billionaires and folks making 8 figure annual incomes pay in taxes is more that everyone else has to pay.

Somehow the right wing propaganda machine has convinced Americans $200k to fight for not raising taxes on people making $1,000,000

A great country is not created by the government. Never has been, never will be.
You’ve benefited greatly from a government that has outlayed tens of trillions of dollars in the past decades for a framework that provides for a country that has given so much to you.
That shit ain’t free.

I usually write in urine, but global warming has taken away all the snow. So I'm already struggling.
In my middle age, my writing in urine days seem numbered. I can get a few words out, maybe a handful, if they're short words. But then I need to rest for a bit before finishing the sentence. When I was young, I could write paragraphs.

I can tweet in urine, though. So I got that going for me.

LOL at the irony that the CE board troll, who introduced a CE board topic in this thread w/a trolling post, gave a like to the post asking for the CE board discussions to be held on the CE board. 🤣

Now that I think about it, that seems to be what most guys do at the urinal in most bars.

I always thought that they, somehow, even after 21 years of practice, still couldn't manage to hit the target and thus got it all over the floor in front of the urinal. But now I see that I've been wrong. It's actually guys leaving messages for the next guy.

The problem being that, after enough guys try to leave a message, it all runs together, turning the Morse code into a Rorschach test, the only sane interpretation of which is that it looks very much like the face of the only girl at the bar who will talk to me (except in reality, I've been talking to a potted plant, but am too drunk to know it).

There are a number. My main one is with the utter dysfunction of the EDD dates. Mine was Jan when I ordered, then December. Three weeks back it changed to Dec 15-31st, and then a week later changed again to December 23rd-30th. Made sense, end of the quarter rush. Rang my sales agent, who confirmed the dates and said it would probably be ready around the 27th-29th. "You should receive the VIN any day now." Because we'd months ago booked tickets to see family in California for Xmas, we cancelled those, as were staying in Cali through New Year. Tesla doesn't like pick up delays, so we better make sure we're available. I was a little bummed about the potential tax credit coming on 01/01/22, but we need a car. 48 hours after cancelling our flights, our ED dates changed to March- April 2022. No explanation, no apology, but happened to almost everyone scheduled for December delivery on our Tesla forum. Emailed the SA, who simply said "I have no control over the scheduling". Nothing even resembling a "hey, this is a screw up on our part, we're sorry." F*ck that for service.

At least we were only bumped to March-April. others 2-3 weeks from delivery were bumped to May or June. Many have had well over a dozen EDD changes, often moving several months forward or back and then back to what it was three weeks ago, then several months again. It's an utter, utter shit show. Tesla has some good employees, but their business structure and model doesn't give a flying f**k about customers (who are spending around the average annual US household income on a car).

I want to like my car and like the company. But nothing I've seen indicates that they give a shit about my experience as a customer. I may well just sell the Y after a year or so and get an R1S or something similar. I don't have any desire to be associated with the increasing clown show that is Elon Musk, and I love that RJ Scaringe of Rivian (and Peter Rawlinson of Lucid) just focuses on making cars. Still, maybe the car will be so amazing that I decide to keep it for years...

That all sucks - really sorry to hear about this. There's no way around this - Tesla is still a young company and has some growing pains. Demand for their vehicles is sky-high. I think things will get better as Austin gets ramped up, but being put off for an additional 3-4 months is awful.

BTW, Ford is having issues with delivering F-150s and I won't be surprised to read other EV manufacturers may also be having delivery issues.
