Bought a house about a year and a half ago and there was obvious water damage around the front for in the basement. Disclosure indicated that no water had been in basement and the owner indicated problems were addressed when new front door were purchased and installed.

About 5 months later staining appeared on the wall and there was evidence of new water intrusion around the front door. I need to get fixed but it will be costly becAuse I will need to replace the door siding and concrete stoop . In general, would such a repair be covered by my homeowners insurance? It's not a result of neglect or lack of maintenance on my part - I'm trying to address the problem as it has been discovered.

Ps - there were obvious signs of repair attempts when purchased so it wasn't an issue that had been completely ignored by the previous owner.

Before going to your homeowners for check the statutes of limitations on how long you have/had to complain about being told by the seller a problem was fixed, but wasn't.
I would suggest you contact your state's housing regulatory agency and see if you have any kind of case against the seller to make him/her pay for repairing it properly.
Doing that might not help, but you never know unless you try.
