OT: New York Mets 2022-2023 Off Season Thread

No one is killing him. He had no choice but to take that deal. And almost everyone feels we made a good fair offer is 3/140 or so was the deal.
Most if not all, wish he could have been a forever Met if possible, even if not fully healthy. But not at the Ranger guaranteed money. That just would have been stupid.
What you twist “killing” is with, concern over health. Big difference.
I do know this, more Met jersey’s that are still exciting to buy than Yankee’s.
And most likely, Mets still win more games next year that your guys.
We still have moves to make, but your trolling is ignorant.
So true, the 3 Amigos at it again. There's only one who is smart enough to wait on the Judge issue. The others don't even get how transparent they really are. One minute they cry how much the Mets are spending, the next minute they are bashing the Mets for showing financial restraint. You can't fix stupid I guess. What will they do with The Judge Chambers? I'll miss deGrom no doubt, as far as I'm concerned, he'll always be an All Time Mets Hall Of Fame Player. Doesn't change what's captioned in this photo as any player that walks from one team to another over more money and less wins the previous season could be put in this category.

San Fran finished 18 games behind the Yankees win total this past season. It could be labeled exactly the same as this deGrom photo.

Yeah- surprised he has kept his distance but do give him some credit for it.

Yes, guilty of it but with that said, not a single one of them have the right to piss in their panties when 008- goes over there hard core..,and, we know he will. Lol
I haven't, just waiting on Judge taking his chamber on the road, lol. They are so stupid as I'm still waiting for one of them to admit they coined the phrase The New Core 4, lol.

I know they have been in heavy talks. If it does happen, then a big move after a big loss.
And…the silver lining with deGrom…he isn’t even in the NL anymore so it isn’t like the Braves got him.
Let’s see if it closes out.

Sounds like Mets aren’t the only team to make a big offer to Verlander. Dodgers also have, and other teams might still be involved according to Heynan.

A’s are possibly trading their catcher Sean Murphy, if Mets move McCann would they be interested? 2021 gold glove catcher, some pop.

If someone takes McCann, I don’t spend on a catcher. I would take a chance with Nido/Alvarez
Nido has always been good behind the plate and last year, I hope his bat may have finally come around”enough”. Maybe a .240 hitter with not much power but he had some big hits last year. Give him the bulk of the work- 110 games and let Alvarez work his way behind the plate with the other 50 and DH a number of games.

Hopefully, we do get Verlander, would make the deGrom loss go away. And makes the rest of the winter a little less stressful

If they could move McCann that is a major win. As Yes mentioned I would then give the job to Nido/Alvarez and spend the money elsewhere.

The A's would most likely want Álvarez in return for Murphy. Murphy hit iirc .250 with 18 hr and 66 rbi last year. The prior year he hit .216 with 17 hr. I think Alvarez has a higher ceiling power wise. No idea on how Alvarez is defensively but he will be under control for the Mets and cost less.

Hope I’m wrong but I am not anticipating Verlander to Mets. He ll use Mets as leverage and either return to Houston or sign with Dodgers. Dodgers looking for revenge via Scherzer signing last year with us

This didn’t age well. 😂. Happy about signing and offsets my grieving over loss of degrom. Who is next? I’m going to guess Senga and remember we need another power bat and bullpen etc. Fun times ! How fun would it be for a Verlander / Degrom pitching matchup in late August at Cirifield?

Gotta be happy. Sounds like DeGrom was a real douche and telling people for months he was leaving NY. His agent called Texas to get the process rolling.
deGrom is reportedly an anti-vaxxer, so I am not surprised he wanted to go to a red state. I am fairly certain that Nimmo will follow him to another red state as well.
