OT: NY Mets Season

What Tebow has accomplished is phenomenal. This is a guy who hadn't swung a bat in 12 years. He has developed to the point where he is a legitimate organizational depth guy. I still think that's his ceiling, but I certainly wouldn't bet against him.

Saw him play at trenton on june 20. In the past 3 weeks he has increased his average by 30 points. Finished tonight 3 for 5. Now at .276

Big fan of his.

Cabrera really has very little trade value. He is poor defensively at this stage of his career. There aren't many contenders for which he would be an upgrade at 2B. He could be an extra bench bat, but supply of those kinds of guys exceeds demand.

Cabrera would fetch a return comparable to what Neil Walker brought back last year. In other words, not much.
American League DH.

Asdrubal is having a great season. He's a definite upgrade at 2b for few teams. Considering his age and impending free agency not sure what we'll get in return especially with a inexperienced GM.

The same return they got in 2017 with a GM "who revolutionized baseball:" nothing much.

After these last two games do you think Jake is saying “Save some of these first inning runs for me already”!
Gary Cohen has said that the coaches got on Rosario. He seems to be amped up lately. I know Jose Reyes is not liked here, but he really legged out that hit and kept/got the rally going.
Washington, especially Bryce Harper, seems to be sleep walking.

Harper has had some head scratching plays the last couple days. Not playing like a free agent

He is very unlikable to begin with. Hope he tanks.
Murphy is hurting too. Looks like the Braves and Phillies are the future of the NL East.
Maybe Atlanta because they invest in pitching to go along with solid hitters. Philly lack depth on their pitching staff.

Heard Pete McCarthy say on the radio pregame that the Mets so far have used 49 players. Only three other teams have ever used that many players before the All-Star break.

Also: Yoenis will be starting either a rehab assignment, or simulated games. He may be ready to DH against the Yankees on Friday. But since the news can never be all good, TJ Rivera has had a setback in his rehab and won't be back as soon as anticipated.

To be clear, it should be Alderson to assist the Wilpons in selecting the next GM/President, not to continue in that role himself. If you disagree with that, who's more qualified to run that process?
IDK who should be running the process. But it shouldn't be Alderson, esp with his sterling moves this past offseason. Enough already.

Will man up. Been very hard on Reyes but he is having himself a good game today

harper has had his butt kissed all along, cover of SI when he was 16. Think he is overrated.

2 for 4 today, scored a run, batting .250.
The hell you get .250 from? Hes hitting .172. Hes also too damm old to be making on field gaffes like he did double clutching on a routing play, costing Wheeler that double play in the 7th.

Read where they are keeping Reyes so he can play a few games with Wright when/if he returns. Big PR move.

If true, idiot Wilpons strike again.
Makes zero sense. They say nostalgic fans will fill the seats for those games. In the meantime we can’t giveaway seats. Even with a good game today, Reyes is not helping. Would much rather see McNeil who is on fire

Then it will be the Wilpons. That’s a living nightmare.

Alderson, on the other hand, has a history of hiring some successful front office execs, starting with Billy Beane.

Who cares what he did in the 90s? What did he do for the Padres? What has he done for the Mets besides having Cespedes fall onto his lap in 2015? Who did he sign this past offseason?

So, yes, you’ve chisen the Wilpons or, better yet, Minaya. Brilliant.

You still didnt say what he did for the As or the Padres. One thing I can say about Minaya is that along with th hits and misses he had (more hits than Alderson), Omar left the minors in decent shape (unlike Sandy who has gutted it and left it gutted).

Shhhh. Don’t look now but that it two straight solid starts for Corey.

Doesn't matter. Once the game goes to the bullpen, it's over.
Will matter. Will need starters when 1 or more of Jake, Thor, Matz and Wheeler get traded. Let’s face it we need to see what we have for next year

The bullpen sucks and we can't score enough runs in a game to overcome it.

Knowing how the Mets screw up everything, they are likely to trade all the valuable assets away and get a bunch of bums in return.:weary: Besides, I'm not sure there is enough quality starting pitching in the minors to replace Jake and company. Sandy gave away a lot of talent. The Mets sure as hell aren't getting any starting pitching in return if they make a trade.

Was there a reason why Callaway pulled Oswalt after 59 pitches in the 5th? Is there any valid reason why Gsellman (former starting pitcher) couldn't go a second inning? And what's Callaway love for bringing in the relievers who give up big hits every chance they get?
