Regardless, that shit play at the plate was all on Pete. Constant theme here- shit on McCann, Vogelbach, Ruff, Givens, but never give them props when they do something good. Typical of Mets fans.
I haven't said anything about Vogelbach, Ruf, Naquin, or Givens because they are rentals/add-ons. They can be hit or miss. Right now, they are a miss. I wanted to see the young guys from the minors get a shot. It can't be any worse.

My issue with McCann is that the Mets spent money to get him, and what he's doing is criminal. He's stealing money. As much as I dislike McCann, I haven't spent every opportunity ripping him a new one. There are others who are far worse than me. I sit back and enjoy it.

Criminal? Stealing money? I do hope you are using hyperbole to make a point.

My point is this - no one forced the Mets to overpay for McCann. His performance has been disappointing to be sure. But at no time has he been anything less than 100% professional.

Really. Takes by Mets fans are often salty and ridiculous. The team is what it is now, and they have to play with who they have. Nobody was crapping on Vogelbach when he was producing. But nobody craps on Pete or ther players during their extended slumps. @cubuffsdoug -agree with all of your posts on RU football, but respectfully, your criminal take is a shit take. McCann has been hurt and out of the lineup more than in the lineup. This is more on bad decisions by the Mets than on any one catcher. Have the Mets had a decent catcher since the 1 or 2 years LoDuca was with the team? In hindsight, they should have held onto d'Arnaud, but in Mets fashion, he would have been continually injured here. Nice to seem him producing for the Braves, though, isn't it.

I'm hard on professional players because it's their job. They get paid well, and their pay is based on their performance.

Every time I look at McCann, I see Sandy Alderson, who I really hate. That's the root of my problem. This has Sandy's fingerprints all over it. It makes my blood boil. 🤬

Btw, the Mets got rid of d'Arnaud because he was hurt most of the time. McCann is similar, but the Mets will hold on to him because of money.

Unfortunately your hope is not realistic. To wrap up the division prior to the Atlanta series, the Mets would need a seven game lead. Not happening.

That said, welcome to Citi Field and welcome back to NY/NJ! You will have a great time!
It seemed likely, a few weeks ago, but hopefully they will get back on track soon.

We all have our things that make our blood boil, we cling on to, or hills we choose to die on. And we can differ on them. I choose to die on different hills, like HCKF, but don't tell that guy who hates him. 😉 But back to McCann, maybe hate the game the Mets played for him, but not the player. It's not like he is out there lollygagging. IMO, the Mets should stop platooning Nido/McCann, and play one the majority of the time and let the other one fill in when the other needs a rest. It's kind of like a football coach rotating QBs out every series to see who is a better QB. Who does that? 🤷‍♂️😉

After all of these years, this team is going to finally give me an aneurysm.
- Darren Ruf for four prospects was a stupid trade from jump.
- Naquin and Vogelbach is not going to be the Kelly Johnson/ Juan Uribe of 2022.
- At least Givens has been better last 7 appearances.
-I’ve been saying for weeks that Alonso needed a day or two off since he was literally stumbling around. Now he’s only hitting homers while trailing by 5.
-Some pitchers are in their late season swoon. Hopefully they’re not joined by another.

Somehow Mets fans here are supposed to be positive and be ok with a wildcard berth when they’re watching the same thing… again. Watching the Braves overtake the division… again. But im a scumbag bastard because Im watching players making $300 million or whatever choke… again while the Braves players and their front office wind up where they are with their top prospects and top young players while the Mets traded for Naquin, Ruf and others.

Thank you for laying off McCann and Vogelbach and singling out Pete.

Regardless of whether you agree with that "opinion" there is a lot of fact in that tweet.
Nope. The statement is inaccurate. After the successful Dodger series which ended on September 1, the Mets have gone 5-6. That is not "playing like crap for three weeks."

I'm focused on the 16 game stretch against Washington, Pittsburgh, Miami, Chicago, Pittsburgh that was to help us gain a little breathing room vs the Braves during a stretch during which we knew they were going to lose games as they always do when they play better competition. Not 3 weeks. 2 weeks with basically one week remaining in that stretch. Now it could still happen as we have 5 remaining vs the Cubs/Pirates. But there's no question that up to now it's been a major letdown because if we had gone even 8-3 during the 11 games played thus far we'd have a lead of at least 3-3.5 games.

we need to be 8-2 in the games surrounding the Mil series. take 2/3 against Mil. If we do that and Atl is still within 2 when we play them, then there is nothing to do but tip your hat to them.

5-6, and actually now 5-7, after the Dodgers series is indeed pretty crappy when playing the Nats, Pirates, Marlins. And Cubs.

This is playing like crap for 11 games vs last place teams. No excuses.

You're a bad fan. And a whiny and neurotic drama queen. Only a Mets fan would say something like that about playing your worst stretch of games at about the worst possible time. Against bottom tier competition. You are ruining the thread for everyone. Did I leave anything out?

BTW the Braves are playing a daytime getaway day game in S.F. Scoreless bottom 2nd. Charlie Morton vs. Carlos Rodon.

1-1 Top of the 4th.

2-1 Giants headed to the 5th. Two out RBI double by J.D. Davis in the home 4th.

anyone know why SF pulled Roden after 5 innings and about 70 pitches? - does it help them if Atl f-ing wins?

Loaded one out for SF
Bottom 6 2-1 giants

NOW 4-1

Division would almost be over this weekend
Just so frustrating playing like 💩vs teams 20-30-40 games below 500. Journeyman pitchers. Pitchers with 5-6 eras coming off 2 horrendous starts.

Let’s go !! Get it back to 1.5 tonight.
